Important news! Pfizer’s BRAFTOVI® has become the first Pfizer therapy to receive priority access through Ontario’s FAST program, helping eligible patients with metastatic colorectal cancer access treatment sooner.

The decision marks an important step in improving access to innovative cancer therapies and advancing precision medicine for Canadians. By accelerating funding and treatment availability, the FAST program helps ensure patients can receive potentially life-extending care when it matters most.

“At Pfizer, we are driven to address priority areas of unmet need for patients,” said Cynthia Di Lullo, Oncology Lead, Pfizer Canada. “However, innovation is most impactful when it reaches patients as quickly as possible. The development of BRAFTOVI® is a testament to our commitment in advancing cancer care, and its inclusion in the FAST program is a validation of what’s possible when industry, government, and other healthcare stakeholders collaborate to put patients first.”

Over the two-day course, participants explored the foundations of biotechnology and gained a clearer understanding of the science driving innovation across BC’s life sciences sector, from DNA and RNA to real-world health breakthroughs.

Remarkable news! 3C Therapeutics and Variational AI have launched a new collaboration using generative AI to help develop more targeted cancer treatments, with support from Innovate BC’s Integrated Marketplace program.

The partnership combines 3C Therapeutics’ drug development platform with Variational AI’s Enki™ AI technology to help speed up the discovery and design of next-generation cancer therapies. This also marks the first time Enki™ is being applied to this type of therapeutic design.

These emerging therapies are designed to more precisely target proteins linked to cancer, helping researchers explore new ways to treat difficult diseases while reducing impacts on healthy cells.
