❤️The quote below is from the book Meaningful to Behold by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

💙In this book Venerable Geshe-la also says:

“The ultimate goal of Buddhist spiritual practice is the attainment of the fully awakened state of mind. This completely perfected state – variously known as enlightenment, Buddhahood or the highest nirvana – can be achieved by anyone who removes the gross and subtle obstructions clouding his or her mind and develops positive mental qualities to their fullest potential. However, we will not be able to attain this fully awakened state if we do not first develop bodhichitta, the mind of enlightenment. What is bodhichitta? It is the continual and spontaneous state of mind that constantly strives to attain this perfect enlightenment solely for the benefit of all living beings.”

Are you ready to discover a simple yet powerful way to reduce stress, open your heart, and find deeper peace—even in challenging times?

Special guest Teacher and Buddhist monk, Gen Chodor, will introduce one of the most renowned ancient meditations taught by Buddha, known as ‘taking and giving’. In this practice we transform the simple act of breathing into a powerful practice that deepens our love and compassion for others and heals our mind from the source of our own suffering.  This special practice helps us transform everyday difficulties into opportunities for genuine compassion and inner freedom.

The evening will be suitable for everyone, regardless of experience. It will include a talk and meditation followed by delicious refreshments. Everyone is welcome!

🧑‍🚒In this clip, Gen Delek gives some encouragement in response to a comment that many people today feel hopeless when left alone with their minds. Our thoughts can be scary! But we can bravely face them and gradually extinguish the source of the fear.
🔥🔥🔥
Buddha says it is the delusions in the mind, not the mind itself that is the problem.
Delusions are agitated or uncomfortable states of mind, such as anger, that are based on a mistaken apprehension of reality. Facing our delusions can feel like a daunting task but by practising Buddha’s teachings we can learn to recognize, reduce, and eventually completely abandon our delusions.

In The New Eight Steps to Happiness book, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso says:

“It is true that to make authentic spiritual progress we need to develop confidence in our spiritual potential, and to acknowledge and improve our good qualities. However, we also need a keen and realistic awareness of our present faults and imperfections. If we are honest with ourself we will recognize that at the moment our mind is filled with defilements such as anger, attachment and ignorance. These mental diseases will not go away just by our pretending they do not exist. The only way we can ever get rid of them is by honestly acknowledging their existence and then making the effort to eliminate them.”
