Did you know you can hand-feed kangaroos right here in Metro Vancouver? 🦘🌿

Tucked away in Richmond, this hidden farm lets you get up close with everything from kangaroos and emus to cows, sheep, goats, and donkeys. You can wander the grounds at your own pace, feed the animals, pack a picnic, and spend a relaxing day surrounded by nature.

It’s one of those places that feels like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem, and it’s perfect for families, date days, or anyone looking to do something a little different.

Admission is $28 for adults and $18 for children (ages 3–14).

B.C.’s second-oldest continuously running fair is back this week! 🎡

The 154-year-old Chilliwack Fair returns with a packed lineup that goes far beyond agriculture. Expect rodeos, racing pigs, circus performances, live music, farm animals, local vendors, great food, pony rides, inflatable games, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment.

Whether you’ve been going for years or it’s your first visit, it’s one of those classic summer traditions that brings the community together and celebrates more than 150 years of history.

Hope now has the worst air quality in the world as thick wildfire smoke settles over southern B.C. 🌲💨

Smoke has rolled back into the Lower Mainland, pushing air quality to hazardous levels in some areas, with forecasts suggesting smoky conditions could stick around for several more days depending on changing winds and wildfire activity.

If you’re spending time outdoors, consider limiting strenuous activity, keep windows closed if possible, and check on those who may be more vulnerable to smoke.

A furry new resident has been spotted in Vancouver’s West End... and it’s not your typical city wildlife. 🦫

Marmots are usually found in B.C.’s mountains and alpine meadows, making a sighting in the middle of downtown Vancouver extremely unusual.

Grinder, the beloved grizzly bear who called the mountain home for nearly 25 years, has passed away after a sudden decline in mobility caused by a severe spinal condition.

Orphaned as a cub in 2001, Grinder was rescued and raised alongside fellow grizzly Coola. The two became inseparable, spending more than two decades together—hibernating each winter and emerging every spring.

Grouse Mountain says the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize Grinder after veterinarians determined there was no chance of recovery or a good quality of life.

Staff who cared for him described Grinder as a “goofball” and the leader of the pair, saying it was a privilege to look after him for the past 25 years.

Rest easy, Grinder. 🐻❤️

One of B.C.’s biggest summer events is almost here. ✈️

The Abbotsford International Airshow returns August 7–9 with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the CF-18 Demo Team, Red Bull Air Force, incredible aerobatic performers, military aircraft displays and a spectacular nighttime drone show. There will also be static aircraft displays, food vendors and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend.

Tucked between Surrey and Pitt Meadows, Barnston Island is one of Metro Vancouver’s most underrated day trips. 🚲🌿

The island is home to a quiet 10-km loop that’s perfect for a leisurely bike ride, with peaceful farmland, Fraser River views, and very little traffic along the way.

Getting there is part of the adventure—you’ll need to take the free Barnston Island Ferry from Port Kells, with the crossing taking just a few minutes.

If you’re looking for a relaxing ride away from the city’s busy trails, this hidden gem is well worth adding to your summer bucket list.
