Vancouver’s MLB dream could take a major step forward as early as July. ⚾

The City of Vancouver is currently reviewing proposals from potential ownership groups interested in bringing a Major League Baseball team to the city.

If all goes according to plan, council could select a preferred proponent this summer, moving Vancouver one step closer to landing its first-ever MLB franchise.

With reported interest from some serious investors, the idea is starting to feel a lot more real than it did just a few months ago.

Coal Harbour’s brand new elementary school is opening this fall… but not every local family got a spot 🏫

cəw̓as Ch’elxwá7elch Skwuláw̓txw Seaside Elementary was built to ease growing enrolment pressure downtown, yet 15 students were still left on the waitlist after registration lotteries.

The new school can hold 317 students and has already helped reduce pressure at nearby Lord Roberts, but waitlists remain a reality across several Vancouver schools as the city continues to grow. 📋👀

B.C. Hits Pause On Downtown OPS After Mayor & Locals Push Back 👀

Vancouver Coastal Health will no longer move forward with a proposed overdose prevention site at Helmcken Street after opposition from Mayor Ken Sim, nearby businesses and local residents.

The Province says overdose services remain important, but acknowledged community concerns and says future plans will involve more consultation.

For now, no opening date has been set and mobile services will continue.

Vancouver’s first FIFA World Cup match is now just 16 days away, with Australia 🇦🇺 taking on Turkey 🇹🇷 at BC Place on Saturday, June 13.

A major new Indigenous-led housing project has officially opened in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. 😮🏙️

The 16-storey development includes 168 affordable homes, 80 shelter beds and community spaces designed with Indigenous culture and connection in mind.

The project, called Ho’-kee-melh Kloshe Lum (“To Gather, Good Spirits”), also features gathering spaces, support services, Indigenous art and two social enterprises at street level.

Leaders say the project has been nearly two decades in the making and is aimed at creating long-term housing, support and stability in the DTES.

A stretch of Pacific Boulevard between Carrall and Smithe is now closed ahead of FIFA and will remain shut until late July.

If you’re heading downtown, expect detours and extra congestion, especially around the Cambie Bridge and Beatty Street 👀

Match day traffic is going to be a whole different game 😅
