Metro Vancouver Alliance Finding common ground and working for the common good. Find out more at metvanalliance.org.

Metro Vancouver Alliance is a group of nonpartisan, proactive, everyday citizens dedicated to making the Metro Vancouver area a better place for all to live and thrive. Our members come from faith congregations, youth groups, neighbourhood houses, union locals, co-ops, academic departments and community non-profits. MVA members work through their organizations to develop relationships between thes

e diverse groups, train and develop leaders and organizers, and formulate practical solutions to the problems that affect us all. By working together and listening to each other, MVA members have identified four issues - housing, income justice, transit, and social inclusion - as priorities and have secured commitments from local politicians to work together to bring positive change to the Lower Mainland.

On March 14, we brought together members and community leaders for a powerful morning of ideas, dialogue, and action on our Climate campaign 🌱

From hearing directly from experts to engaging in meaningful table talks, participants explored how climate impacts every part of our lives, from housing and health to jobs and transit.

We heard how:
🏠 Affordable, safe housing is essential in the face of extreme heat
👩‍🌾 Youth can lead the way through fair, paid green jobs
🚌 Better transit can cut emissions while improving affordability
💬 Real stories, like a healthcare worker navigating a snowstorm alone, reminded us what’s at stake

These conversations sparked energy, connection, and a shared vision for tangible, local climate solutions.

Next up: our Climate Research Action Team will turn these insights into a proposal for the June 17 Delegates’ Assembly.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared, and helped shape the future of our communities đź’š

No campaign moves forward without the approval of our Alliance members; that’s why your voice matters on June 17.

Join us as we take the next step in advancing two key MVA campaigns on Housing and Climate. Building a winning campaign starts with coming together across our diverse membership to decide the issues that matter most.

Looking ahead to the 2026 municipal election, we’ll be asking candidates to commit to these priorities, and together, we’ll hold them accountable.

This isn’t the end of the work… It’s just the beginning.

Extreme climate events are already reshaping our lives: heat waves, wildfires, and floods.

The decisions our cities make determine who is protected and who is left behind.

On March 14, join us in Vancouver for the Climate Civic Academy, a hands-on gathering where community members, organizers, and researchers come together to turn climate urgency into collective action.

Hear from inspiring speakers:
* Denis Agar, Metro Vancouver Transit Riders
* Maia Selkirk, Urban Climate Leadership, on the Right to Cool in BC
* Ben Simoni, Youth Climate Corps, on green jobs for BC

We’ll begin with short talks, then move into table discussions and plenary reflections where everyone can participate. This is not a passive event — it’s a space to organize, share lived experiences, and help build a community-driven action plan for Vancouver’s next municipal government.
