Why I Create: A Panel on Personal Work

Join us for our first-ever panel on creating personal work. When we say ‘personal work,’ we mean the work you make just for you, without an end client or job in mind. We have an excellent panel of photographers, including , , and , who will be sharing a body of work, followed by a panel discussion about ideation, process, and making it happen. If you have aspirations of building an art practice or making time for more meaningful personal work, then this panel is for you.

Tanya Goehring () and Trevor Jacobson () are the 2026 Langara College Artists in Residence. They have created a new project and would love for you to join them on opening night!

“How to Make a Monster” is an installation that incorporates photography, sound, and video as equally vital components of a cohesive new media experience. This project dissects the messy, universal forces that create the monsters we carry inside - those internal critics, inherited judgments, and whispered warnings that shape how we think of ourselves and move through the world.

Between Memory and Light, a two-person exhibition featuring work by and , on view at Gallery 881 from February 28 to March 25, 2026. The exhibition brings together photography and film rooted in family archives, memory, and intergenerational connection. The opening reception will be on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6–9pm at Gallery 881 — all are welcome!

Our International Women’s day event is around the corner. Building on last year’s theme, How I Got Here, this year’s conversation looks forward. We’ll explore what it means to break through, grow, and take up space in the industry — through mentorship, collaboration, and building sustainable creative careers in Vancouver.

Taking place on March 6, the evening features a candid panel discussion with women working at top advertising agencies, followed by a fast-paced, high-energy Making Room segment spotlighting voices from the room. *Women and female-identifying.
