TheCinderella Project Society

TheCinderella Project Society We work to build self-esteem and restore dreams. These students are referred to the Cinderella Project by their teachers, principals or social workers.

Our goal is to help break cycles of poverty by encouraging vulnerable youth toward positive choices and to stay engaged in their education with the ultimate achievement of high school graduation. We assist students through a variety of means including our Boutique Day, a day of recognition and self-esteem boosting, annual Achievement Awards, and mentorship opportunities. It is a magically simple c

oncept; we know that youth in our community who are living in low income situations can not afford to celebrate the graduation festivities along side their fellow students and as a result many of them don’t see the value in completing high school.

The Cinderelle Project Achievement Awards/Bursaries

Each year, Achievement Awards are granted to a growing number of students in support of their post-secondary and training program aspirations. The goals are to reduce financial barriers and help students pursue further education with confidence. Students who apply can receive a scholarship or bursary, with amounts ranging from full tuition to $100 book awards. They are also provided with an honorable mention award that they can include on their resumes. This past May (2025) The Cinderella Project gave over 60 awards. For students who receive full bursaries, Cinderella Project provides mentorship throughout their post-secondary journey, with multiple touchpoints each term.

We would like to highlight of a few of our notable long-term partners:

● Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront: Our host since the very beginning (1999), the Pinnacle Hotel has provided facilities, food and the unwavering support of their staff for over 26 years.
● Moores Clothing: A cornerstone sponsor since 2000, Moores supplies inventory and dedicated volunteer staff, ensuring that all that wish to wear a suit have the opportunity to do so in ways that reflect their individuality and build confidence ( high school graduation, job interviews etc.)
● Artona: Joining us 25 years ago, Artona provides every student with a Graduation Photo Package, free of charge. These photos are a tangible reminder of their achievement and serve as a touchstone to remind them that their dreams are possible.
● Edgemont Moving and Storage: For over 25 years, this committed team has managed the safe transport of our inventory from storage to the event venue and back.
● Bare Basics Lingerie Boutique: For more than two decades, Bare Basics has provided gender affirming professional fittings and products, supporting students’ confidence, health and wellness.
● Save-On-Foods: Save-On-Foods has been a long-time supporter of The Cinderella Project. In 2020, their commitment grew significantly with exceptionally generous donations of food, essential items such as toiletries and personal care products, baby care supplies and thousands of dollars in gift cards. Their “nothing is too much” approach has been truly transformative, elevating the quality and impact of our events and ensuring students feel supported and celebrated. Their contributions underscore that the Cinderella Project is about nourishing these youth in every aspect.
● Autism BC: In 2024, Autism BC responded to our call for support by providing an exceptional volunteer who stocked, staffed and conceived the creation of three sensory spaces, each with unique attributes to support not only our students with neurodivergence, but to support the overall mental health and wellness for everyone involved in our event. In 2025, they provided invaluable training to our volunteers, which enhanced our ability to accommodate all students’ needs.

The Cinderella Project 2025

We celebrated 250 students and their guests for our annual Grad Celebration Event on March 2, 2025. This event couldn’t have been possible without the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, our amazing donors and sponsors, and our hosts at the Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront. The weekend has had an incredible impact on our students, and delivers on our goal: to ensure that our students have a day for themselves, where they are celebrated, encouraged, appreciated, valued, included, and understood.

To paraphrase a story from the weekend, one of our students, after picking out their suit, kept saying “I really do feel like a Cinderella, I had no idea how this was going to make me feel. I am so excited to graduate! I wasn’t really sure before today if I was going to bother, but now I am super excited to walk across that stage! This day has been life-changing for me.” This is one of the many, many reasons why we do what we do, and we could not do it without the support of our volunteers, sponsors, and donors.

Our support for our students continues through our Achievement Awards. These bursaries will help support their future goals and dreams. If you like to help us to support our 2025 graduates, please visit https://thecinderellaproject.com/donate/to learn more.
