This , we are excited to share positive salmon news!🐟

Salmon-Safe BC, a program of the Fraser Basin Council, has announced today that Osoyoos Larose Winery has successfully achieved a 3-year Salmon-Safe recertification.

Located on the slopes of Osoyoos Lake, Osoyoos Larose Winery has demonstrated a strong commitment to meeting Salmon-Safe Agricultural Standards including water conservation, natural pest management, and organic nutrient management on site.

Their assessor gave kudos to the winery for many sustainable features such as:
• Erosion management and improved drainage infrastructure,
• Advanced irrigation control for precise irrigation delivery at block level,
• Sophisticated integrated pest management program with only organic products
used, and
• Partnerships with local stewardship organizations to leverage Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) funding to further improve water management and provide habitat to local species.

We commend Osoyoos Larose Winery for their commitment to sustainable agriculture and taking steps to protect their local waterways and salmon.🌊

Earlier this month, our own Mahdis Araujo spoke on the BC Changemakers panel at Canada’s largest electrification event: the EV & Charging Expo in Toronto. The panel included David Bibby (Hypercharge), Mike Wenzlaff (BC Hydro EV Service Delivery), and moderator Denise Lee (Clean Energy Canada).

The discussion unpacked how BC became one of Canada’s leading EV markets. Here are a few highlights:

📍 It started before the market existed. Through the Community Charging Infrastructure Fund (2007), E3 Fleets (2008), the Green Fleets Buyers Group (2010–2012), BC invested in infrastructure and lived experience long before mass-market EVs arrived. In 2013 we had 450 public charging stations and just 14 DC fast chargers. Today BC has 2,300+ DCFC ports. That’s not an accident. That’s 15 years of deliberate investment.

📍 It took collaboration. Provincial and local governments, BC Hydro, utilities, NGOs, EV Associations, and everyday drivers who showed up at test drives and told their neighbours.

📍 EV adoption follows policy, not technology. We hear that consumers are waiting for a battery breakthrough, but sales rise and fall despite the vehicles constantly improving. When financial support is available, sales climb. When policy pulls back, adoption slows. The technology has been more than adequate for years.

We're grateful to Electric Autonomy for convening such a high-quality gathering of people doing real work on Canada’s EV transition.

Let's keep the discussion going at Zero-Emission Fleets Reconnect, June 2nd in Vancouver: https://lnkd.in/gpx9vwPh
