💪🏼 Standing Together for Ukraine 🇺🇦🇪🇪🇨🇦

Today, members of our Estonian community joined others at Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver for a rally in support of Ukraine and to raise awareness of the ongoing impact of the war.

We were proud to see VES represented by our President, Liisa Hein, and her family, as well as the Tork family. Aarne Tork was among the speakers at the event.

Thank you to everyone who came out to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine and to stand together in support of peace, freedom, and humanitarian aid.

🥇 Narvalanna Karolina Voronova on kickpoksi maailmameister!
18.–27. septembrini Itaalias Jesolos toimunud WAKO noorte maailmameistrivõistlustel võitis Karolina Voronova K-1 stiilis kuni 60 kg kaalukategoorias kuldmedali. Ametlikes tulemustes on ta selle kategooria maailmameister.

Karolina on KONKIRO klubi kasvandik ja töötab nüüd seal abitreenerina, aidates valmistada ette noori sportlasi. Mais võitis ta ka WAKO maailmakarikaetapi Türgis. WAKO maailma edetabelis on Karolina oma kaalukategoorias esikohal.

🥇 Нарвитянка Каролина Воронова стала чемпионкой мира по кикбоксингу!
На молодёжном чемпионате мира WAKO, который проходил с 18 по 27 сентября в итальянском Езоло, Каролина Воронова завоевала золото в дисциплине K-1 в весовой категории до 60 кг. В официальных результатах она указана победительницей этой категории.

Каролина — воспитанница клуба KONKIRO, а теперь сама работает там помощником тренера и помогает готовить юных спортсменов. В мае она также выиграла этап Кубка мира WAKO в Турции. В мировом рейтинге WAKO в своей весовой категории Каролина занимает первое место.

🇪🇪 Meet Estonian Author Carolina Pihelgas at Dockside Restaurant, Granville Island Hotel 🇪🇪

The Vancouver Estonian Society invites members and friends to meet Carolina Pihelgas, an acclaimed Estonian writer, poet, translator, and editor whose novel The Cut Line is her first work to be translated into English. Carolina Pihelgas is the author of seven poetry collections and was appointed Tartu's City Writer Laureate in 2020.

Carolina Pihelgas will be appearing at the Vancouver Writers Fest as part of the panel Women's Voices from Europe, which brings together contemporary European writers to discuss literature, translation, and women's voices in fiction. The event takes place on October 25 at The NEST on Granville Island.

The Women's Voices from Europe panel has sold out, but if you weren't able to secure a ticket, you'll still have an opportunity to meet Carolina in person afterward.

This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome an Estonian author visiting Vancouver, learn about her work, and connect with fellow members of the community.

Join us for a weekend of fun and learning at the Vancouver Estonian School’s overnight Estonian Youth and Children Summer Camp from July 3 to July 5, 2026 at Mäeotsa (“at the top of the hill”) in Mission, BC!

Bring your family, your friends, and your summer spirit for a day filled with music, singing, folk dancing, jaanituli, food and bar service, games, and a lively raffle.

As the sun sets, the celebration continues with our evening dance party featuring three fantastic guest DJs: DJ Snuggles, Leah Ipsum, and Schemmatic. All three are cherished community members sharing their talent and energy with us.
