Join us in the trees at VanDusen Botanical Garden for the return of in7inyaxa7en!

Aeriosa is thrilled to return to collaboration with Spakwus Slulem Eagle Song Dancers to share in7inyaxa7en presented in partnership with VanDusen Botanical Garden. in7inyaxa7en (Thunderbird) is an intercultural presentation that brings traditional Squamish singers, dancers and drummers and Aeriosa vertical dancers together in a ceremonial performance guided by Squamish Sea Going Canoe Family Chiax (canoe landing protocol).

Don’t miss the chance to see this powerful, transformative performance in person and enjoy a beautiful day at the Garden!

When: September 27, 2026 | 1pm & 3pm
Where: VanDusen Botanical Garden (5251 Oak St, Vancouver), by the top of the Great Lawn

Do I need a ticket?
The performance is included with garden admission or membership on Sunday, September 27. Book oline in advance to save on admission at vandusengarden.ca!

*VanDusen Botanical Garden offers free admission to all self-identifying Indigenous Peoples. This offer is available in-person at the admission desk, no pre-booking required.

Join us this Friday, May 29 at 6 PM for a special evening of movement and connection in the forest!
Choreographer Julia Taffe brings her vision of international collaboration and the Tofino community into this new performance. Inspired by the movements and characteristics of the animals we share this place with, the piece includes a joyful celebration of bears.
This free event is open to everyone. After the performance, stay for a Q&A with Julia Taffe and the performers.

In Loving Memory of Will Stanhope
We are deeply grieving the loss of our Aeriosa family member, Will Stanhope. Our hearts and thoughts are with Will’s loved ones and everyone affected by this profound loss. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends, and join them in honouring his extraordinary life and beautiful spirit.

We have so many fond memories of Will at Aeriosa. He joined our team in 2009 at age 22, alongside his childhood climbing buddy, Jason Kruk. Under the mentorship of our Safety Director, Colin Zacharias, the two young climbers developed their rigging skills and contributed to years of artistic and technical growth at our company.

The artwork above, is a scan of an original watercolour created for Aeriosa by Jeremy Blumel. Jeremy, an artist and climber who rigged for us early on, originally introduced us to Will. His illustration captures Will performing as “Chester the Librarian” in our 2010 Vancouver Cultural Olympiad show, In Situ, at Library Square.

For his vertical dance debut, Will created the awkward, dedicated character of Chester. In the performance, Chester bravely climbed the seven-story glass wall in the Library Square Promenade to retrieve a magical book for “The Bookworm,” sending her flying into a sky filled with storybook characters. Will threw his heart into the role, developing a powerful sequence of dynamic, two-handed leaps to move between the window panes. We named his awe-inspiring technique “The Wolverine” after the Marvel character. We were delighted and proud that Will could perform like a movie superhero created with CGI.

Rest in peace, dear Will, you will always be in our hearts.

In celebration of , Aeriosa held a wall dance workshop located on the unseeded territory of the Musqueam Nation with and artists from Mexico and Columbia in a cross border exchange of vertical dance. Dancing on walls is certainly more fun than building walls of division.
