Congratulations to Sean Cauley on his entry into the pool of fame
Important things to know about Sean;
* Sean got his start like all of us, as a swim parent in the mid 2000’s with the PoCo Marlins. Oddly enough, his wife Karen joined the Marlins board first. Truth be told, Karen was attending the meetings but tasking Sean to do all the techie jobs behind the scenes. It soon became apparent that Sean had a knack for electronics and meet office programs.
* He became a Marlins board member and rose to the President role which he held for 2 years.
* Simon Fraser Regional Director for 2 years (2014 to 2016)
* Provincial Director of Competition for 8 years (2016 to 2024).
* Sean is a Master Official in both the BCSSA and Swim BC.
* He is one of the few people within BCSSA who’s an expert at every job required to organize and run a swim meet. (S&T, Meet Ref, Electronics, Chief Meet Recorder, Meet Manager, Clerk of the Course)
* While on the BCSSA Provincial board, Sean helped produce a series of instructional videos on Meet Manager and Colorado timing systems and ran meet office and electronics clinics.
* As Director of Competition, he instituted the Regional Alternate and Wild Card systems that maximize the number of swimmers that get to participate at Provincials.
* He also made running of meets more efficient by implementing the self marshaling procedure for Divisions 5 and over.
* Outside of the BCSSA, Sean has been an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer across all swim organizations in BC for two decades.
* He is a mainstay in the BC High School Swim organization as meet manager for the organization as well as electronics and meet office expert.
* He also has been an official for the 55+ Games and Masters Swimming Association of BC Provincial Championships.
* He has been asked to assist at major international events like Mel Zajac.
