🌎🌍 And somehow, DAYS FIVE & SIX of Participedia School on Transnational Democratic Innovations have come to a close and what a week it was! More reflections to come, but for now, the hybrid session recap.

Decentralized sites at the and met for the last time yesterday to listen to incredible panelists reflect on the school’s theme. Students then came together for a closing circle to connect, share, and exchange. It’s hard to believe just how together two sites, in two different countries, can be.

✨ Feeling grateful, energized, and interconnected. Thank you, everyone, for the most transformative week! Leaving remembering these powerful words:

Day 1 of our Summer School with SFU's Community-Engaged Research Initiative featured keynote Tzeporah Berman of Stand.earth, and was an incredible way to kickoff this weeklong engagement! We got to chat with many of our participants and visiting scholars over drinks, and left with a wonderful sense of anticipation for things to come. Stay tuned for more photos! Participation in the Blue Zone: (Re)Building Community in Nosara, Costa Rica

Teaching and Learning doesn’t always happen in the classroom!

Join Participedia to explore how participatory practices were used to engage the community of Nosara, Costa Rica in conflict, to nurture co-learning and understanding of competing perspectives, and set directions for the future. Nosara is facing complex issues related to poor governance, extractive tourism-driven growth, and environmental degradation, which prompted an international team of civic leaders and scholars to respond to community concerns and engage in a participatory project using surveys, interviews, Q methodology, and public engagement.

Attend the Teaching Café to hear more about the Nosara context, project and the team's reflections on their activities, processes of co-learning and teaching, findings, lessons learned, and potential next steps!
