She believes that the role of a yoga teacher is to hold space for people to have their practice. In this vein, she provides room for students to explore their own definition of what yoga is. Aurora is a serious student of yoga who tries her darndest not to take herself too seriously. Her demeanor is at once playful and earnest, and in her classes she focuses on creating a safe environment where st
udents are encouraged to laugh, cry, and generally do whatever it is they need to do to get into their bodies, and into their hearts. Aurora’s training includes a 200-hour base in Classical Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga systems from the Salt Spring Center of Yoga, as well as Yin Anatomy training with Paul and Suzee Grilley, Relax and Renew Restorative training with Judith Hanson Lasater, and ongoing studies in Yoga Philosophy and Meditation with Michael Stone. Her true training, however, exists in the stuff of every day living, particularly in her personal relationships with family, friends, community members, and students, who are her most valued teachers. Aurora is also trained in Thai Yoga Massage, and practices in community bi-weekly at Unity Yoga. She is currently studying Herbalism at the Wild Seed School on Salt Spring Island and is also a member of the Swamp Theater, a community-based anti-oppression theater collective. Her other passions include riding her beloved bicycle around town, dancing, writing and music.
