Designed by Coast Salish artist, Ovilla Mailjot from Seabird Island, BC, this shirt honours the resilience of Indigenous children and reflects our commitment to collective healing and education.

At the center rests the Th’a:le (heart) grounded in the Elder teaching of “One Heart, One Mind”. It reminds us that true learning brings us together in unity and empathy.

Radiating outward into a St’elakw (circle) and guided by four Sp’oq’es (eagles) to complete the foundation of knowledge with a North Star on each eagle’s chest, a nod to the collaborative work with Connected North - a local charity that provides live, interactive learning experiences and educational resources for students in remote Indigenous communities.

Every purchase helps make these learning opportunities possible and continuous the circle of protection, eduction and cultural pride.

As we approach Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, UNYA's orange shirts are available for purchase. All proceeds go directly back into Indigenous youth programming.

Wearing orange is a way to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and commit to ongoing learning and reflection.

Shirts are available for $20 each in Youth & Adult sizes. Limited quantities available.
