The Kelty Foundation

We are a non-profit foundation started in memory of Kelty Patrick Dennehy. The foundation was established in 2001 by Kerry and Ginny Dennehy.

Our goal is the prevention of depression related suicide in young people and to remove the negative stigma attached to mental health. After the loss of their son Kelty, the Dennehy's created this foundation not only to honour Kelty's life but to fund causes aimed at preventing depression-related suicide in other youth. To date, the Kelty Patrick Dennehy foundation has raised over $4 million dollars to fund causes related to youth mental health and suicide. Most noteably, the Mental Health Building at BC Children's Hospital, support for the establishment of a Chair in Depression Research at the UBC/VGH Centre of Excellence for Depression Research, and the The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre. Today, we remember Riley Rae Dennehy and honour the legacy she has left at the heart of The Kelty Foundation.

Riley’s story continues to inspire our commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of youth and families, and to creating a future where every young person has access to the support they need.

Remembering Riley, always.

This year, Kind Mind is getting animated!

As we enter the third year of the Kind Mind Program, we’re excited to introduce an original animated video series as part of the in-classroom program experience.

The series was directed by Rhona Rees, produced by Adrienne Lindsay, and recorded at Vancouver’s 708 Studios with Emmy Award–winning sound engineer and mixer Wes Swales. The animation was designed at Edit Media Pros by Muhammad Asbar and team. Together, this talented team of creatives and voice actors helped bring the Kind Mind story to life.

This year, the Kind Mind Program is reaching even more families, with the program expanding into Kelowna and Victoria for the 2026–27 school year.

We can’t wait for students to meet the characters and follow along on their Kind Mind journey!

Mental Illness Awareness Week | October 4–10, 2026

Mental illness can affect anyone, and understanding it is an important part of creating a more compassionate and supportive community.

This Mental Illness Awareness Week, we’re taking a moment to talk about mental illness, challenge stigma, and remind one another that mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical health.

For children and youth, creating space for these conversations early can make a difference. When young people have the language to talk about how they’re feeling, and know where to turn for support, they’re better equipped to ask for help when they need it.

Awareness starts with conversation.
Understanding creates connection.
And knowing how to support someone can make a difference.

Let’s keep the conversation going this week and throughout the year.

Foundry stickers are included in our Kelty’s Crew 3 Classroom Kits, giving students a fun way to connect with a community resource that supports youth mental health.

What an incredible day! ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Engel & Völkers Ocean Park Ocean Park Kind Mind Festival and helped make it such a special celebration of connection and kindness. Together, we raised over $8,000 to support children’s mental health ❤️
