The Kelty Foundation

The Kelty Foundation We are a non-profit foundation started in memory of Kelty Patrick Dennehy. The foundation was established in 2001 by Kerry and Ginny Dennehy.

Our goal is the prevention of depression related suicide in young people and to remove the negative stigma attached to mental health. After the loss of their son Kelty, the Dennehy's created this foundation not only to honour Kelty's life but to fund causes aimed at preventing depression-related suicide in other youth. To date, the Kelty Patrick Dennehy foundation has raised over $4 million dollar

s to fund causes related to youth mental health and suicide. Most noteably, the Mental Health Building at BC Children's Hospital, support for the establishment of a Chair in Depression Research at the UBC/VGH Centre of Excellence for Depression Research, and the The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre. June 1st: Global Day of Parents.

This year’s theme, Together for Parents, recognizes the important role caregivers play in the nurturing, protection, and well-being of children.

Parents and caregivers provide love, identity, stability, and support, helping children grow in environments rooted in care and connection. While parenting is deeply meaningful, it also comes with challenges, and support for families plays an important role in strengthening child and youth well-being.

Today is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate parents and caregivers in our communities for the care and commitment they give every day.

What a night at the first-ever Kind Mind Experience LIVE with Rock’N’Beau! ❤️🎤

Last week, Kind Mind Program graduates and their families came together for an unforgettable evening of connection, community and belonging. This live experience brought important conversations around mental health to life through music, movement and interactive activities.

Throughout the night, children and families explored topics from the Kind Mind Program in a fun and engaging way — including navigating big emotions, practicing positive self-talk and normalizing conversations around mental health with friends and loved ones.

By creating spaces like this, we help young people and families feel more comfortable having these important conversations while building a stronger, healthier future together.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners and vendors for making the night so special!

Why people give matters.

Hearing directly from members of our community helps show the impact behind every contribution — and reminds us that supporting mental health is something we can all be part of.

When individuals choose to give monthly, they’re helping create consistent, reliable access to mental health programs and resources for children, youth, and families.

Join the Kelty Collective and be part of a growing community committed to making a difference.

Your support creates real impact.

Through the Kind Mind Program, students are given the opportunity to build emotional awareness, express themselves, and feel supported in their school communities and at home.

Monthly donations help bring this programming to more classrooms — reaching over 20,000 families and continuing to grow.

This is what early support looks like. And it’s made possible by a community that chooses to show up.

Join the Kelty Collective and help expand access to mental health resources for children and families.

Volunteer Spotlight!

“I was very lucky to discover the Kelty Foundation through a friend-of-a-friend’s post about their Casino Night, which raises funds for mental health initiatives like the Kind Minds program in schools across BC. As a teacher, I see how important this work is in building strong, supportive communities. I had such a great night, felt truly welcomed, and saw firsthand the difference they’re making in people’s lives. I’m really looking forward to continuing to volunteer with them. I feel like part of something very special.”

We’re so grateful for volunteers like , whose passion and commitment help bring our work to life. From supporting events to helping expand programs like Kind Mind, our volunteers play a vital role in building strong, supportive communities.

Thank you for being part of this work with us.
