2026 International Biospecimen Summit PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT 💡Workshop 2: Accelerating Biotech Access to Biobanks: From Sample Sourcing to Pilot Validation and Fundraising Readiness

Startups developing diagnostics, biomarkers, AI tools, therapeutics, digital pathology platforms, and precision oncology technologies often require access to high-quality biospecimens and associated clinical data to generate early validation evidence. However, sourcing biobank samples can be difficult to navigate, particularly when companies are balancing scientific validation, fundraising timelines, investor diligence, and biobank regulatory and legal requirements. At the same time, biobanks and research institutions need responsible access models.

This workshop will position biobanks as critical translational research infrastructure and explore how responsible, transparent, and governance-aligned access pathways can help biotech startups generate credible validation evidence using high-quality biospecimens and linked clinical data.

2026 International Biospecimen Summit PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT 💡Symposium 3 - The Accreditation Decision: Choosing the Right Framework for Quality, Cost, Impact and Equity in Biobanking

🎤 Featuring: Kathi Shea, Anne Marie Mes-Masson, Ayat Salman, and Monique Albert

Accreditation can strengthen quality, credibility and research readiness - but when is it the right investment? This interactive session will explore how biobanks can choose the quality pathway that best fits their stage, resources and goals. Through polling, case-based debate and perspectives spanning CAP, CTRNet, ISO 20387 and global capacity-building approaches, panelists will examine trade-offs across quality, cost, impact, interoperability and equity.

Participants will leave with a practical framework to assess quality maturity and identify the next best step - whether accreditation, certification, QMS strengthening or a staged approach.
