00+ vulnerable individuals each year, manages 400+ units of supportive housing, and operates a mental health drop-in centre that provides meals every day of the year. We also provide advocacy services, an ID bank, homeless outreach, a women’s transition house, a health clinic, a volunteer program, and supported employment.

Big thanks to the amazing team at Boffo for volunteering at our Drop-In last week to support with meal preparation! 🙌

Last year alone, we served over 23,000 meals! Our daily meal program is truly vital to our community - it provides nourishing food and an opportunity for our members to gather over a shared meal, which is where a lot of friendships are born and connections are made.

We're very grateful for volunteers like the Boffo team who continue to show up for our members and help make programs like this possible! 💚

Last week we shared with you some updates from SEED, our supported employment program. This week, we're thrilled to announce a new partnership with United Way BC's Work Experience Opportunities Grant that has helped us grow our SEED offerings.

Thanks to this funding, Jill has joined us as our first Member Barista at the Recovery Cafe! ☕

The Work Experience Opportunities Grant supports BC non-profits in creating paid work opportunities paired with essential skills training - helping our members gain real experience, build confidence, and move toward in-demand jobs.

We're so proud to expand SEED and create more pathways for our community to achieve their employment goals. 🎉

Ready to build confidence and enter the workforce? 💼

Meet SEED - our Skills, Esteem & Employment Development program designed for people living with mental illness who face barriers to traditional employment.

Since 2001, SEED has helped participants build skills, confidence, and a meaningful pathway to paid work, at a pace that works for them. The results speak for themselves: this past year alone, 47 individuals were employed in positions primarily based at Kettle sites, earning over $200,000 in combined wages. 100% of participants surveyed stated that their SEED position has helped them improve their physical fitness and wellbeing.

Whether an individual’s goal is to enter market employment, learn new skills, or explore other vocational paths, our team is here to support every step of the way.

It was an amazing day yesterday, celebrating together at the Annual Kettle Picnic! 🌞 A longstanding tradition, members, tenants, and staff from across our sites came together to enjoy delicious burgers, cake, and live music. There's nothing quite like gathering together to share good food, laughter, and meaningful connections.

A huge thank you to for fueling our celebration with yummy burgers with all of the fixings! 🙌

🎭 It's almost here! Monty Python's Spamalot opens NEXT WEEK (August 13-15)!

This production is special - it's created by and for our recovery community through Amplify Recovery Theatre (ART) Productions, a collaborative effort bringing together individuals from our Recovery Café and partners like Jewish Family Services, and AWA Society. Through music, dance, and art therapy, this cast has been building healing, connection, and seriously impressive comedic timing.

Rebecca was the one you’d call in a crisis. As a paramedic, she was the person who showed up when strangers called 911, who knelt on the kitchen floor checking vitals and saving lives. Then, a bipolar disorder diagnosis changed everything. Unable to receive the support she needed in her small town, Rebecca was transferred to Vancouver, where she spent months in hospitals and group homes before she entered an 18-month rehabilitation program.

In 2001, The Kettle's Supported Independent Living program gave her something life-changing: a safe home and the support to rebuild. Twenty-five years later, she's still a part of The Kettle community. And the life she has now would have been unimaginable to the woman who walked into that apartment all those years ago. Today, Rebecca works part-time at YVR, has stayed stable through major health challenges, and gives back by leading holiday wreath-making workshops for other Kettle members and opening her home to neighbours in need.

Housing isn't just a roof - it's the foundation for recovery, independence, and hope.

“Housing was the basis for my stability. The first step. I can come home at night and put my head down on a nice, warm bed in my own space where I can actually see my flowers bloom," Rebecca reflects.

This is a glimpse into a day at The Kettle's Drop-In Centre, a warm, accessible space that is open 365 days a year for anyone who is a member (and joining is easy!). Whether it's sharing a meal, connecting with others, or simply finding a place to spend part of the day, community happens here every day.

With supportive programming available every day and services such as an ID Bank and a health clinic, the Drop-In offers members access to a variety of valuable resources. This Drop-In space is all about creating a sense of belonging and making sure people are met with kindness, respect, and care, whether they're visiting for the first time or are a familiar face.

Last year, the Drop-In enabled the following outcomes: 38,000+ visits, 23,555 meals shared, 3,155 showers taken, and 2,214 loads of laundry completed. Every number represents a moment of dignity, connection, and care.

🎭 Something musical is happening this summer!

Recovery Café members and friends from our recovery community are bringing Monty Python's Spamalot to life - produced by Amplify Recovery Theatre (ART) Productions, a collaborative not-for-profit theatre troupe made up of individuals from the local Recovery Community with support from The Kettle Society, Jewish Family Services, and AWA Society.

Through creative therapeutic modalities including music therapy, dance/movement therapy, and art therapy, our participants engage in comprehensive recovery support that builds emotional regulation, processes trauma, and creates sustainable coping strategies.

Get ready for a romping musical comedy featuring King Arthur, his Merry Knights, the Holy Grail, and all the laughs in between. The cast has been hard at work for the last few months with rehearsals and we are now just weeks away from opening night! 🎪

FIFA spirits are high at Kettle on Burrard! ⚽

Every day, our residents have been packing into the common area for World Cup watch parties - cheering, connecting, and soaking up the magic together. Situated in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, Kettle on Burrard is right in middle of all the festivities and we're bringing the excitement directly into our residents' home so they can celebrate alongside the rest of the city.

Here's what really resonates with us: 85% of our residents told us that social programs like these are game-changers for their mental health and 65% said that they decreased loneliness. Opportunities to come together like this are a vital part of keeping people healthy!
