DMS Vancouver The Dogwood Monarchist Society has operated as a non-profit society in British Columbia since 1972

Our group's primary mandate is to raise money for British Columbia’s registered LGBTQ2+ charities as we provide social-interaction opportunities for Vancouver’s drag community and their supporters. The DMS is a charter member of the International Court System (ICS), which has over 65 chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico, making us the second largest LGBTQ2+ organization in the world. F

or over half a century, the DMS chapter in Vancouver has raised millions of dollars for community-building initiatives, and we would be honoured if you would consider partnering with us as a sponsor. Each year, the Vancouver LGBTQ2+ community elects two “monarchs” who serve as the titular heads of our “court”, which celebrates local culture. These monarchs build a team of volunteers who serve as ‘courtiers' who assist in running the year’s social and fundraising efforts. Importantly, each and every individual involved with the DMS donates 100 per cent of their time so that as much money as possible can go directly to the charities. Past Monarchs of Vancouver include Canada’s Drag Race superstar, Kendall Gender, Loving Spoonful creator, Easter Armas, and DMS founder, ted northe, whose pioneering efforts within our community resulted in the City of Vancouver naming a lane in the West End in his honour.

Tantrums will be thrown. Crowns will be questioned. Dignity will not be invited.

Welcome to Tantrums & Tiaras: The Pageant, a drag parody spectacle where glamour meets full emotional collapse. Contestants of all kinds will battle it out in three highly prestigious and deeply unserious categories:

Talent (questionable)
Runway (delusional)
Q&A (dangerous)

Expect rhinestones, riggory allegations, and at least one competitor who absolutely did not rehearse.

A panel of judges will be scoring with complete authority, while the audience gets a say too, because what is a pageant without a little chaos and favoritism?

Will they serve excellence? Will they spiral on stage? Will they answer the question they were actually asked?

There is only one way to find out.

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia.

This year, that message feels more urgent than ever.

Across British Columbia and Canada (and the rest of the world) our communities are facing a growing wave of hate, misinformation, harassment, and political attacks targeting trans and q***r people. We are seeing elected officials, public figures, and organized movements openly question the validity, safety, and humanity of LGBTQ2+ people, particularly trans youth.

Words matter.
Policies matter.
Leadership matters.

When people in positions of power spread fear and misinformation, it creates real harm for our community and fuels the hostility many q***r and trans people now face daily.

As ambassadors and leaders within our community, Empress 54 Glimmer Rouge and Emperor 54 Lonnie Hall De Vander Vogue remain committed to building spaces filled with bubbles, laughter, safety, visibility, and joy for every member of our LGBTQ2+ family.

We will not shrink ourselves to make hate more comfortable.
We will not abandon our trans siblings.
And we will never stop fighting for a future where every q***r person can exist openly, proudly, and safely.

Visibility matters.
Protection matters.
Community matters.
