Disability Alliance BC Founded in 1977. Disability Alliance BC is a provincial not-for-profit organization in British Columbia, Canada.

Our mission is to promote a more inclusive and equitable society for people with all disabilities through direct services, community partnerships, systemic advocacy, research, and publications. We acknowledge and have deep gratitude to work together on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Selíl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations of the Coas

t Salish people. We honour the many territorial keepers of the lands. Our mandate is to support people with all disabilities to live with dignity, independence and as equal and full participants in the community. We champion issues impacting the lives of people with disabilities through our direct services, community partnerships, advocacy, research and publications. Our activities include:

* Assistance accessing income supports and other benefits for people with
disabilities
* Programs and projects that respond to community need
* Workshops and training that build community capacity
* Self-help guides in reader friendly language and public legal education guides
for advocates and the general public.
* Working with a broad range of stakeholders
* Working to positively affect the lives of people with disabilities

📣 A message to folks in Kelowna! 🌈

💡LET’S will be providing a low sensory space at Kamloops Pride on June 14, 2026! 💖✨

🏳️⚧️Come together with Kamloops Pride, the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community, organizations, and allies as we march proudly through the heart of downtown Kamloops. The parade begins at 11:00 AM at 2nd Ave & Seymour Street, travelling along Victoria Street and ending at 5th Avenue.

🏳️🌈This is a free, all ages, family-friendly event where everyone is welcome. LET’S will be there to provide a supportive space for folks who may need a break from crowds, noise, or stimulation throughout the day.

📍Accessibility:
- Street parking available outside the parade route and staging area. Parking may be limited.
- Accessible viewing area at 2nd Ave. and Seymour with volunteers for assistance. This area is for those with accessibility needs to view the parade such as shade and wheelchair/mobility aid accessible)
- The parade will move at a pace accommodating to those with low mobility
- Accessible porta-potty located on St. Paul street between 2nd and 3rd Ave
- Music, loud noises, and crowds present
- This is an outdoor event with unknown weather (rain or shine!)
- We encourage folks to wear N95 masks when in close proximity
- Relief area for service animals limited along parade route
- There may be well behaved animals in the parade

Are you a parent or guardian of a young person (aged 16–22) with an intellectual disability (ID) living in BC? You are invited to participate in a student led research study about the parents/guardians’ experience navigating the transition to adulthood (TTA) process for their children with intellectual disabilities (ID) in British Columbia.

Participation involves a confidential online survey. You have 5 days left to participate - the deadline is May 30th, 2026! Your insights can help inform better planning and support for families in the future. Participation is voluntary, and all information shared will remain confidential.
