On February 27 the US and Zionist Israel launched unprovoked attacks against Iran, after months of escalating threats and the amassing of U.S. military forces in the region. These vicious attacks on Iran came just hours after negotiations between the US in Iran in Geneva - while Iran was negotiating in good faith, the US was preparing their attack on people of Iran. Iran is now defending itself with strikes against Zionist Israel and US bases throughout West Asia, including the infamous US 5th Fleet in Bahrain.

Given the track record of war crimes by Zionist Israel and the US in 29 months of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, it should be no surprise that the strikes on Iran have targeted civilians. At least 60 girls were killed today, when an Iranian girls elementary school was struck by US/Israeli bombing.

Metro Vancouver United for Palestine (MVUP), as one of 60 members in the Canada-Wide Peace and Justice Network (CWPJN), is responding to the CWPJN urgent call to action. After over a month of ceasefire, Palestinians in Gaza still face daily ceasefire violations and brutal siege by the Zionist regime. Palestinians in West Bank also face escalating attacks from Zionist forces and settlers. Now the US and other imperialist forces responsible for genocide in Gaza are planning their next strike against Palestinians. While the UN Security council adopts Trump's plan for a "Gaza International Stabilisation Force", this plan as criticized as imposing foreign control of Gaza and blocking the Palestinian struggle for self-determination.

From Palestine to Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iran we see that the Zionist genocidal regime, with US weapons and support, is threatening regional war against any nation who dares to stand up against Zionism and imperialism.

The MAWO general organizing meeting will discuss the politics of the Zionist US-Israeli genocide against Palestinians, the US-Israeli war against Iran, and the broader context of worldwide imperialist attacks.
