Wallenberg-Sugihara Civil Courage Society

Wallenberg-Sugihara Civil Courage Society The Wallenberg-Sugihara Civil Courage Society (WSCCS) was formed in 2013 by members of Vancouver's Swedish and Jewish communities. More info on: www.wsccs.ca

The WSCCS continues the legacy of the annual Wallenberg Day event in Vancouver, an annual event centering on presenting a thought-provoking film about civil courage in different forms, and recognizing and honouring individuals who, at great personal risk, have helped others by acting against unjust laws, norms or conventions. These acts of civil courage, as exemplified by Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg and Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara among many others, are a model for us all.
