Join us this April for a Provincial Learning Event featuring the Jewish Q***r Trans (JQT) Seniors Initiative, a Community Response Network hosted by JQT Vancouver.

At the online session, you'll learn about the barriers many face in healthcare, including antisemitism and q***rphobia, and gain access to practical resources and recommendations that can help make services more inclusive and responsive.

This is an important opportunity to deepen understanding, ask questions, and help build safer, more inclusive communities for all seniors.

Thanks to grant funding provided by BC Community Response Networks, supported by the BC provincial government, the JQT Seniors Initiative will be offering a handful of FREE training workshops.

The goal of these workshops is to educate on the barriers impacting Jewish q***r and trans seniors in healthcare, including antisemitism and q***rphobia. Starting next month, we have workshops lined up with BC Hospice Palliative Care Association, BC Community Response Networks, Dignity Seniors Society, and JFS Vancouver, (TBD).

We expect attendance from a variety of professionals including representatives from health authorities and service providers. If you are a healthcare or service provider for seniors in BC and would like to register for one of these workshops, please reach out to us at [email protected]

A staged reading of "HEARTLINES: A Love Story", Sarah Waisvisz's "very gay, very trans+, very Jewish play" is coming to Vancouver on Saturday, April 4 from 2-4PM. Presented by Promethean Theatre as part of Fates Fest 2026!

Heartlines "imagines the extraordinary love, art, lives, and resistance of gender pioneers Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore," and it was just shortlisted for the Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ+ Drama. Mazal Tov, Sarah!

The conversation to archive JQT Vancouver has begun with Raegan Swanson of The ArQuives: Canada's LGBTQ2+ Archives (The ArQuives) in Toronto and Ron Dutton of the Gay & Le***an Archives stored at the City of Vancouver Archives.

We are pleased that both archives are happy to collect digital copies and physical items produced by JQT Vancouver since 2018. This is wonderful news!

It's going to be A LOT of work, but so very much worth it for future generations to come. We are very lucky to have guidance on how to properly archive everything, made easier with the support of these fine folx!

This process also includes learning how best to memorialize our website, our oral history project and its online exhibit, our resources and much more, so that this information is accessible for 120+ years down the road and then some!

In 2022, a number of allies participated; as such, we welcome allies to fill out this survey too, including parents and caregivers of Jewish LGBTQ2SIA+ people. In 2022, we also received a number of survey responses from people living outside of the Lower Mainland; as such, we have expanded the reach of the survey to the entire province of BC.

This survey has a total of 𝟗𝟎 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and will take 𝟒𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 to complete, using a computer, tablet or mobile, but we recommend that you use a computer.

The first two questions are required and the rest of the questions may be left blank, though we encourage you to complete the survey to the best of your ability. Please check all categories that apply, or elaborate in point form in the blank comment space below. The examples listed are designed to illustrate some of the possible answers (based on answers the JQT community provided in our 2022 needs assessment) and are not intended to be exhaustive.

For those who participated in the 2022 needs assessment, many of these questions will be familiar. This is to help compare data, compile, analyse, report and make recommendations on next steps for both Jewish and LGBTQ2SIA+ community organisations.

This online questionnaire is 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬, and 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲, though we strongly encourage you to participate. The higher the number of participants, the more confidently the Jewish and LGBTQ2SIA+ communities can create strategies to affect real and necessary change.
