CFO chief commends Filipino community in Canada

CHARLOTTETOWN — “Filipinos are thriving in Canada, and that from our perspective at home, we're all very proud of what you are doing here.”

Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Chairperson Dante “Klink” Ang II made the statement during a panel discussion at the recent Federation of Canadian-Filipino Associations convention, responding to inquiries regarding the state of over one million Filipinos living across Canada.

Ang’s remarks align with consistent messaging from the CFO emphasizing the socioeconomic achievements, integration, and cultural contribution of permanent migrants and dual citizens worldwide.

In similar public engagements, the CFO leadership has regularly highlighted how long-term and permanent diaspora communities serve as key brand ambassadors for the Philippines while contributing directly to local and national development through knowledge-sharing, philanthropy, and trade.

🇨🇦 I was pleased to attend the Filipino Canadian National Congress convention in Prince Edward Island. While there, I checked out the waterfront, which reinforced my belief that Winnipeg needs to continue investing in better public access to our rivers—there’s always room for improvement. I also toured a potato farm and export operation, gaining a greater appreciation for Canada’s potato industry. An interesting fact: Prince Edward Island exports seed potatoes to the Philippines.
