Youth Education Farms (“YEF”) is a Canadian federally registered charity that develops and manages commercial farms in rural Swaziland, a small country landlocked within South Africa. In exchange for tuition fees, the students attend the YEFeducational course to learn basic life skills such as AIDS prevention, business skills and career planning. As of January 2012, the number of students in our Y
EF educational program increased from 13 to 36. These tuitions will continue to be paid for the entire life of YEFas an organization. Since 2008, YEF has been working diligently to expand our agricultural programs. Our recent projects include the development of a new poultry farm and the refurbishment of an abandoned building adjacent to our two existing farms. Once completed, this building will serve as a facility to process and package poultry. This is a key initiative for the organization in 2012. In 2011, the YEF Board of Directors made significant strides towards our goal of alleviating poverty and providing education in Swaziland through the growth and development of agricultural businesses. 2011 proved to be YEF's most successful year to date, raising a total of over $93,000and far exceeding our fundraising total from 2010. 100% of these funds generated were allocated toward advancing operations on the ground in Swaziland. As the mandate of our organization, every dollar of our donated funds will be spent on humanitarian development initiatives in Swaziland that will certainly have a lasting impact felt for generations to come. Together, we are helping a generation of Swazis, in a time when they have never needed it more, to avoid the subjugation that has befallen those before them and to realize their dreams and aspirations.
