Out Innerspace Dance Theatre is devoted to creating exciting and integral contemporary dance works. Through research and experimentation, OIS celebrates the importance of challenging the preconceptions of what can be expected, experienced and expounded in contemporary dance.

In Only Light Years Away, our dancers (literally) become larger than life through video and light. 💡

These video portraits will be projected onto the stage floor. Dancers move through the light beams of their own contours, and bring their new creation to life.

About Alex
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Alex Haskins began his formal training at The Ailey School and is a graduate of Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and MOVE|NYC|’s Young Professionals Program. He later attended The Juilliard School under the direction of Alicia Graf Mack and Mario Alberto Zambrano. During his time at Juilliard, Alex worked with renowned choreographers including Sonya Tayeh, Ohad Naharin, and Norbert de la Cruz III. In January 2022, Alex joined the junior company of Hofesh Shechter Company in London, England, and is now entering his fourth season with the company. He is currently touring Theater of Dreams. Alex is also a National YoungArts Silver Winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance and a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts Semifinalist.

Join us for our 2026 OIS Summer Professional Workshop led by Patrick Howell + Aishwarya Raut

August 10–14
10am–3:45pm Q7 Studios, Vancouver

A week-long intensive for emerging and aspiring dance artists looking to maintain, deepen, and evolve their practice between training seasons or post-graduation!

Each day begins with a ballet class led by Patrick Howell, followed by afternoon sessions with Aishwarya Raut (former Rambert Dance Company, Akram Khan Company, currently GöteborgsOperans Danskompani).

Daily schedule: 10:00–11:30 Patrick Howell 11:45–1:45 Aishwarya Raut 2:15–3:45 Aishwarya Raut
