Brothers have historically held a polarizing place in the music industry. High risk, but also high reward. For The Bankes Brothers, that chemistry has been at the core of their evolution from the very beginning, with the rewards continuing to speak for themselves.

While “Aaliyah” introduces a softer and more reflective side of the band, it also signals a new creative direction for the group. Written during a transformative period in the members’ lives, the new material explores themes of self-reflection, personal growth, fear of consequence, and the challenge of navigating adulthood while holding onto optimism.

This November 24 + 25, artists from across Canada will gather in Toronto for two days of industry networking, professional development, and live showcases. Whether you're an emerging artist or an established act, Come Together is an opportunity to connect with the people helping shape the music industry, including label representatives, managers, agents, publishers, music supervisors, publicists, and more.

If you're looking to expand your network, build meaningful industry relationships, and showcase your music, we'd love to hear from you.

Jasper Sloan Yip has been a quiet fixture in Vancouver’s music scene since his painfully earnest 2010 debut Every Day and All At Once established his signature warbled tenor on the west coast.

Never one to rush the process, years passed, a family was built, and Jasper plotted his return. Reunited with producer John Raham, Jasper’s latest studio sojourn reveals his warbled tenor comfortably settled into a gravelled rasp.

On his first offering, the galloping pop romp “love&worry”, Jasper presents a dizzying montage of a parent struggling to keep up with life’s new demands. Spring has returned, arms heavy with new gifts, and so has Jasper Sloan Yip.

The Houseplants are an independent trio from ‘Vancouver’ Canada. Formed by Iran-born Amir Alav (guitar), Mongolia-born Sondor Mendbayar (drums/synth) and US-born Anna Zeleny (vocals/bass/synth).

We are thrilled to officially announce Scott Johnson as the new Executive Director of Music BC! 🎶

Scott is a familiar face in our community, having previously served as Music BC’s Board President. He brings over 20 years of music industry experience to the role, including his recent senior commercial and partnership roles at Warner Music Canada, where he championed Canadian artists and expanded digital business nationally.

As both an industry professional and a musician, Scott has a firsthand understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing BC artists and music businesses. His long history of advocacy includes key roles with the BC Music Fund and the Western Canadian Music Alliance (BreakOut West).
