💚 This World Cerebral Palsy Day, we’re celebrating the people who are helping create a more inclusive future.
Shaina knows firsthand what it means to live with cerebral palsy. But she also knows that a diagnosis doesn’t define a person—or limit what they can achieve.
A 2023 recipient of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award, Shaina has dedicated her life to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Through her work as a Behaviour Interventionist and volunteer at Sunny Hill Health Centre, she uses her lived experience to help children and families feel less alone.
Her goal? To one day develop innovative treatments for people with cerebral palsy through research—always remembering the person before the patient.
Today, Shaina is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience at Simon Fraser University and is gaining research experience in the BC Children’s Hospital Orthopaedics Department.
CPABC is proud to have supported Shaina through an Education Bursary, helping ease the financial burden of her education and giving her greater confidence and independence as she works toward her dreams.
