Good Lives in Community: Building Community One Walk at a Time

For the past year and a half, Jan has been building something special, one dog walk at a time.

What started as a love for animals has become a growing dog walking business rooted in care, responsibility, and connection. You can find Jan heading out for hour-long walks with his regular four-legged clients: Kai, Blue, and Maple. Making sure they get the exercise, stimulation, and attention they need. For dogs who are trained and comfortable off leash, Jan also includes some safe off-leash time so they can really stretch their legs and explore.

Jan has taken the initiative to expand his knowledge through dog first aid training: learning CPR, how to perform chest compressions, and how to check a dog’s pulse. He has also learned leash training techniques and road safety skills to ensure every walk is both enjoyable and safe.

His favourite part of the experience? Spending time with the dogs and caring for their well-being but also connecting with their owners! Through his work, Jan isn’t just walking dogs, he’s also building relationships and creating community. Jan shares that he feels happy and proud to be working and earning income while living with a disability. His business is a reflection of his independence, dedication, and passion. It’s something he has built through commitment and heart.

And he’s not stopping here.

Jan is excited to grow his business and would love to take on more dogs. If you or someone you know is looking for a caring dog walker who brings both skill and genuine love for animals to the job, he would be thrilled to connect. DM us and we'll put you in touch!
