Small-scale farmers are managing land that filters water, sequesters carbon, supports pollinators, things that benefit all of us, way beyond what ends up on our plates.

They're being asked to do all of that while navigating rising costs, unpredictable seasons, and funding that rarely reaches farms like theirs. Most government programs are built for large operations, which is exactly the gap we exist to fill.

Well-stewarded land has real ecological value. So do the people working hard to maintain it.

We don't want this program to end - please consider donating so we can ensure another year of meaningful action. spec.bc.ca/donatefarmland

Healthy farmland filters water, supports pollinators, pulls carbon from the air. These aren't abstract ideas, they're real things local farmers make possible every single day, often without recognition or support.

Rising costs and inaccessible funding make it so hard to invest in the practices that keep land healthy long-term. Help us change that by investing in the Farmland Ecosystem Services program. Now more than ever we need your help.

Small-scale farmers in Metro Vancouver are doing so much more than growing food: healthy farmland filters water, supports pollinators, sequesters carbon, and contributes to a resilient local food system. But in 2026, asking small-scale farmers to invest in that kind of long-term land stewardship on top of rising costs, funding barriers, and unpredictable weather is a real ask.

The land gives a lot. So do the people tending it. Our Farmland Ecosystem Services program needs your help to continue supporting biodiversity on local farmlands. Please consider supporting our spring campaign at spec.bc.ca/donatefarmland
