October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Abreast In A Boat has a strong commitment to raising breast cancer awareness and supporting breast cancer research. For 31 years, our members have been volunteering, learning, and fundraising to make a difference.
This year is no different! We have a month full of activities and events planned, and we’d love for you to join us or cheer us on.

Saturday, October 3 - Live Love Run, Fort Langley
AIAB will be participating in the Live Love Run, raising money for breast cancer support and awareness. Our team has raised over $3,000 this year! 🎉

Sunday, October 4 - CIBC Run for the Cure
AIAB will have teams participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure in both Surrey and Vancouver. Our AIAB Friends & Family team has raised over $26,000 to date for breast cancer research!

Wednesday, October 14th- Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day
BRA Day promotes education, awareness, and access to information for those considering post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.

'Finish it!' was the phrase at the 46th Annual Terry Fox Run at Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. Abreast Up The Creek started their day with a smile when they met up at English Bay at the laughing statues (called A-maze-ing Laughter") then along with the crowd who attended, finished the 10km around Stanley Park, enjoying a gorgeous day and great company. They finished up with a group shot at 2nd Beach. Here's to "reaching out" in the community together!"

Our first days in Aix-les-Bains, France have been unforgettable! We got out on the water to practice, explore the race course, and the festival site before enjoying a wonderful crew dinner together.
Day 2 brought the Parade of Nations, where we were honoured to lead the Canadian teams as the world’s 1st breast cancer dragon boat team. We then joined the Opening Ceremonies and the tradition of awakening the dragon by dotting its eye.
Unfortunately, after a day of heat, sunshine and celebration, we learned that Saturday’s races have been cancelled due to severe weather.
C’est la vie!

The Abreast In A Boat crew has arrived in Aix-les-Bains today!

But before their arrival, our ladies were travelling in France, Germany and Switzerland proudly displaying their Abreast In A Boat gear everywhere❤️
Next up - practice on Lac du Bourget, crew dinner, IBCPC Congress and Opening Ceremonies!

It's the final countdown to the 2026 IBCPC Festival in Aix-les-Bains, France! Abreast In A Boat will be proudly represented on the waters of Lake Bourget by our composite crew, led by coaches Lynn and Leanne.

An estimated 4,500 breast cancer paddlers from 25 countries will come together in a remarkable celebration of community, resilience, and strength. From the Opening Ceremonies and Race Days to the Sandy Smith Global Finale, Flower Ceremony, and Closing Ceremonies, our paddlers will experience every unforgettable moment.

As they embark on this incredible journey, we wish our crew strong paddling, calm waters, lasting friendships, and an experience filled with inspiration, pride, and cherished memories. We know they will represent Abreast In A Boat with heart, determination, and spirit.
