We’re hiring for a new Senior Leadership position! We’re looking for a hands-on, values-driven leader to oversee our year-round out-of-school programs.

This role is all about leading with heart and strategy — supporting staff, walking alongside young people, and strengthening programs that serve families who live on the DTES.

What you’ll do:
• Lead day-to-day operations of our programs while staying present and relational
• Support, coach, and develop program staff and Young Leaders
• Oversee our Young Leaders Program (recruitment, training, mentorship & workshops)
• Build strong partnerships with schools and community organizations
• Manage budgets, schedules, reporting, and operational systems
• Help guide organizational strategy as part of our senior leadership team

If this sounds like you — or someone you know — we’d love to hear from you! 🦋

2025! What a year it's been at Promise! Here are 5 highlights we're celebrating as the year comes to a close...

1. 🌲 We launched the Trekkers Program, empowering youth in the Downtown Eastside with outdoor experiential learning. Each youth participant gets to lead part of a hike or camping trip for their fellow peers AND purchase essential gear, which they’ll have long-term access to through our Trekkers Gear Library. (Youth in grades 10-12, apply now for the Winter Cohort - link in our bio!)

2. 🏠 We returned home to 558 Powell Street in February after a long six months of fire and flood restoration. Recently, Logan and Asha have been refurnishing the space to make it feel like home once again!

3. 🏋 We built capacity for the future through our partnership with SVP Vancouver, which has provided our team with immensely valuable strategic advising, team coaching, accountability, and funding.

4. 🧩 We strengthened our team, bringing on new primary program lead Asha; summer staff Doaa, Reya, and Micah (with the latter two continuing as part-time school year staff); Austin and Mai as part-time admin and development staff; and 28 seasonal Young Leaders.

5. 🎯 Together, we surpassed our year-end fundraising goal of $35,000! Doubled through a matching gift from a generous donor, this brings our December total beyond $70,000. In a time where charitable giving is at a 20-year low despite increasing needs, this response has been so encouraging! Thank you to every one of you who made a donation this year, investing in hope within the Downtown Eastside.

🎉 HAPPY NEW YEAR and see you in 2026!! 🎉

P.S. If you haven't already, it's not too late to make a tax-deductible donation to give Promise a strong start to the new year! https://promisevancouver.ca/donate 🦋

"As we come to the end of 2025, I’m too aware of how heavy life feels for many of us. Rising costs, economic uncertainty, and global instability have created real strain – for families, communities, and for many of us personally. While this affects everyone, it hits heaviest on our friends who are already living on the margins, especially children and youth. In the Downtown Eastside, we see this every day. Children carry around more stress than they should. Families are forced to make impossible choices. The need for safe, steady, and joyful spaces has only grown.

But this is not the whole story.

Another reality I’m seeing, at Promise Vancouver and in the community around us, is one of generosity, courage, and hope. In a year marked by disruption and change, people have responded by leaning in. Staff have stayed faithful through transitions. Our Young Leaders have shown up with energy and care. Our Promise Partners have invested and sown generously, even in such times. Because of this, programs continue. Children are smiling. Laughter still fills our space. Youth are stepping in and realizing their potential. The work continues because love is stronger than fear.

As we look ahead to 2026, your year-end gift helps ensure that hope-filled presence remains. Promise Vancouver will continue offering safe, life-giving spaces where children and youth can experience belonging, stability, and joy, even through uncertain times.

Thank you for being part of this story. I’m so grateful to be walking this road together!

With gratitude,

Ricky Lee
Executive Director"

Yesterday our preteens wrapped up the year with a Christmas Party to celebrate their last day of programs before winter break! 🎄 They enjoyed hot chocolate, decorating cookies and a Christmas Market.

We’re so thankful for each of them and look forward to seeing them again in the New Year! 🤍
