Be The Change Earth Alliance

Be The Change Earth Alliance School and community programs to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on this planet.

We are committed to behavioural and systemic change toward global sustainability through education. Founded in 2005, we support environmental, social and personal behavior changes in community, the workplace and in schools through innovative sustainability education and citizen engagement programs. We empower people of all ages to support and inspire one another in adopting sustainable lifestyles

and creating healthy, thriving communities. Our Student Leadership for Change (SLC) program provides innovative cross-curricular materials for Blended, Distance and French immersion middle and high school classes. We also offer assemblies, workshops, and district support for sustainability initiatives. Our Community program provides interactive sustainability workshops and Action Guides for youth and adults to bring real change into their lives and communities.

Kindness is a kind of ecology.

Every gentle choice - picking up a piece of litter, choosing to reduce, giving wildlife space - creates a ripple that spreads far beyond us.

On this World Kindness Day, let’s remember that compassion isn’t only between people. It’s something we offer to the land, the oceans, the forests, and every life that shares this planet with us. Small acts, repeated widely, can restore whole ecosystems. 🌿💚

Here are 5 simple ways to be kind to nature today:

🌱 Pick up litter during your walk.
🥤 Bring your own cups/containers to reduce single-use waste.
🚶‍♀️ Choose walking, biking, or transit for short trips.
🦉 Give wildlife space and keep parks clean.
💧 Save energy & water by turning off lights and shortening showers.

👇 Comment below: What did you do for kindness today?

🌱 Welcome to our Seeds of Change series! 🌱

We’re sharing impact stories and testimonials from Be The Change’s programs, made possible by YOU - our supporters.💚

It’s because of your belief in our mission that we’re able to help students and educators become changemakers for climate and social justice in their communities, empowering growth in every classroom! 🌟📚

Today’s seed is from a teacher that uses SLC in their classroom 🌱🧑‍🏫

Want to help us plant more Seeds of Change? Stay tuned for Giving Tuesday on December 2nd! 🗓️✨

❄️ Every winter, utility costs and greenhouse gas emissions increase due to heating. We all want to be warm and comfortable as it gets colder outside but we can also do multiple simple things to reduce the amount of energy we use. Better for the climate, our wallets, and us!

This Halloween, let’s add a little extra spooky fun by making sustainable and ethical choices! Suggestions include making your own DIY costumes using second-hand or borrowed items, composting your jack-o-lanterns, cooking and eating pumpkin seeds, avoiding dressing up as anything from someone else's culture, using reusable trick-or-treat bags and using reusable, non-plastic, non-toxic halloween decorations and reuse them every year! Every action can help us celebrate in ways that are good for us & the planet.🎃🌍🍂

💙 Third places are defined as a space that you spend time in, socialize, or relax in that is not your home or workplace. They are very important parts of having fulfilling lives, building social networks and bridging gaps between groups of people. For many reasons, third places are becoming less common and less utilized and we encourage you to find a third place you enjoy spending time in!
