Behind that number are real impacts on financial security, career progression, and long-term economic well-being. Plus, for Indigenous, racialized, and disabled women, the gap is even greater.

For Hallie, Future Ready was more than a leadership program. It was a space to grow alongside other young women who showed up with encouragement, shared their experiences, and reminded each other that every voice matters.

Many women grow up learning that humility means staying quiet about their achievements.

Paulina Cameron, Lead BC Advisory Council Member, shares her perspective on how confidence and humility can go hand in hand, and why recognizing your strengths is an important part of authentic leadership.

Over time, that can look like downplaying accomplishments, hesitating to speak up, or making ourselves smaller to avoid being seen as "too much." Yet the skills, ideas, and impact we bring deserve to be recognized.

Building confidence is not about taking up space at someone else's expense. It is about finding authentic ways to share our strengths, advocate for ourselves, and celebrate what we've accomplished without apology.

Understanding your strengths is one thing. Knowing how to articulate them as a leader is another.

For Kim Buksa from the City of Vancouver, Minerva’s Women Leading the Way™ program created an opportunity to connect the two. Through the program’s strengths analysis, she gained greater clarity around how her strengths and values show up in her leadership style and how to communicate the value she brings to the table.

That clarity is one of the ways Women Leading the Way™ helps participants move forward with greater intention, alongside a community of women learning, connecting, and growing as leaders.

Put it into practice: write down one leadership strength you want to lean into more intentionally this month, and one way you can put it into action.

The Women Leading the Way™ capstone project is an opportunity to put theory into action and practically apply program learnings in a way that fuels your personal and professional growth.

When Vanessa Wright, Director of Partnerships and Development, took the program in 2025, she made the capstone project her own. She applied a data-driven mindset to track and support her emotional wellbeing as a senior leader. What arose was a strategic and scalable framework for resiliency. Not the push-through kind of resiliency, but the build-it-on-purpose kind that is cultivated with intention.
