Craft Cannabis

Craft Cannabis The Craft Cannabis Association of British Columbia (CCABC) is a non-profit society formed in 2016 to support small-scale producers in BC.

It's hard to believe a decade has passed since we started the CCABC. We are proud of our work to ensure consumers have access to small-scale independent producer's products, but there is obviously still much to do. Enjoy the day, and get in touch if you want to help us on our next 10-year mission to free the plant 🌱 [email protected]

How does the Craft Cannabis Association of BC define BC craft cannabis?
1. Small-scale: produce up to 3,000kg
2. Independent: 25% or less of a craft cannabis company can be owned by a non-craft entity
3. Licensed
4. BC Based

This working definition is simple, verifiable, it aligns with the definition of 'craft' used by other sectors, and it aligns with consumer's understanding of the term. We believe a simple, industry-defined and provincially supported definition could be rolled out NOW providing the framework for government programs to support small businesses.

Of course we consider craft cannabis to be artisanal, and the methods to achieving this high-quality cannabis are varied and will continue to evolve. 'Craft cannabis' produced by local 'mom & pops' is a major part of BC's cannabis legacy. Those brand stories and their unique approaches to producing high quality cannabis are the producer's to tell. We believe that if craft cannabis producers can succeed, it will benefit the entire industry in BC, Canada and indeed the world. BC in particular could demonstrate to the rest of the world how vital and possible it is to have an inclusive, equitable and sustainable cannabis industry.

Conversations regarding what makes cannabis 'high quality' are underway and will likely take some time and industry collaboration to evolve. We're here for it! It will be integral to have thriving small-scale, independent operators at the table or that eventual 'quality badge' will seem hollow.

What are your thoughts on craft cannabis? 🌿 We’d love to hear from you.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a response to Call to Action 80, one of 94 recommendations in the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Report. September 30th is an annual opportunity to focus on the national conversation regarding truth and reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Join us in taking the time to reflect, learn and to participate in events happening in your community.

Jo Tobias is a Regenerative Soils & Living Compost Specialist with the primary goal of assisting land stewards in understanding how they can play a role in soil health. Jo founded RootShoot Soils in 2015 and has collaborated with British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario farmers. Her direct tool for regenerating degraded landscapes is using rich, biologically-diverse compost. Compost can provide the foundation to kickstart microbial processes that stimulate nutrient cycling and decomposition when managed correctly. Composting is Jo's craft—she meticulously tends the whole process to create the ideal habitat for diverse microorganisms promoting plant health. For Jo, composting is all about finding the balance between growth and decay, and she takes this responsibility very seriously. Over the years, she has taught farmers practical strategies to leverage their compost to restore soil life. She also combines the power of microscopy with her restoration efforts to ensure she is on the right path to improving soil health, as it allows her to refine her techniques when revitalizing lifeless soils. future

Posted • Hi Point Guest Ranch, the home of Dabble Cannabis, is a prime example of where I hope the cannabis industry is headed. A place to learn about and experience cannabis in a stunning setting.

I want to thank the Davis family for sharing their story with Parlimentary Secretary Russell and I. A huge shout out to Craft Cannabis for organizing the tour for us.
