This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women trailblazers in Canadian politics, business, and civic life.

Their leadership reminds us that the story of Chinatown is also the story of women who stepped forward, spoke up, and built lasting change.

Today, we honour their achievements and express our deep appreciation for the women who continue to guide, uplift, and inspire our community every day.

Swipe to meet the women at the helm. ✨

Building housing is one thing, but building a community is everything.

With 231 homes and over 300 residents, this is a new gold standard for community housing in Canada. And now, with Lily’s Community Health Centre open on site, residents and the neighbourhood have access to care, support, and connection right here in the heart of Chinatown.

This milestone took an entire community. Three levels of government. Visionary donors. Dozens of partners. Years of belief and persistence.

And now, it belongs to the residents who call it home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Grand Opening and to every partner who helped bring Bob & Michael’s Place to life.

We were proud to launch the award-winning exhibition and book Vitality: Iconic Images, Hidden Stories, revisiting Chinatown’s heyday through Fred Herzog’s iconic lens, alongside never-before-published family archives and personal stories.

Vitality is one of our key cultural revitalization initiatives and part of our three-pillar approach: physical, economic, and cultural revitalization, working together to carry Chinatown’s resilience, and everyday vitality into a hopeful, vibrant future.

We’re incredibly grateful to TELUS Friendly Future Foundation for awarding a $10,000 grant in support of our educational initiative, Home & Belonging in Chinatown. 💛

This funding allows us to expand one of our most popular school programs through a blended model of in-person learning and a free digital teaching kit, reaching classrooms across the Lower Mainland and beyond. Students will engage with first-hand stories, artefacts, Head Tax certificates, and personal letters to explore migration, belonging, and resilience in Vancouver’s Chinatown.

With this support, we’ll reach approximately 4,000 Grade 4–7 students each year, including students with disabilities, through accessible and inclusive learning experiences.

Thank you for helping ensure every student can connect with stories of our shared heritage.

As we step into 2026, we look back with deep gratitude on the partners who helped make the fall and winter seasons of 2025 at BOB AND MICHAEL’S PLACE a time of building community and nurturing a true sense of belonging for our residents.

Over the past year, residents took part in yoga classes with mats and blocks provided by , garden club workshops hosted by , cozy coffee socials at Buns and Beans Cafe, Halloween pumpkin carving supported by (Woodwards location), and a financial literacy workshop series delivered by .

We are especially grateful to our program delivery partners at for creating memorable excursions that brought the spirit of the season to life. Residents enjoyed a downtown scenic walk through the Hyatt Gingerbread Lane, festive Robson Street and a visit to the beautifully lit Christmas tree at the Vancouver Art Gallery plaza.

Our Holiday Open House was another highlight of the season, made even more special by generous treat donations from , .ca, and .realestate.

To every partner who shared their time, expertise and kindness, thank you for making 2025 a year of connection, joy and community at BOB AND MICHAEL’S PLACE. As we move into 2026, we look forward to building on this momentum and continuing this meaningful work together.
