As June comes to a close, CUPE 1004 recognizes National Indigenous History Month, and reaffirms our commitment to truth and reconciliation.
We acknowledge that we gather, work, and organize on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, specifically the \(x^{w}\)məθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
We honor and celebrate these Nations for taking care of these lands since time immemorial and to them we say hay ce:p q̓ə Thank you.

CUPE 1004 stands in solidarity with our amazing and vibrant 2SLGBTQ+ community.

We have a diverse membership that celebrates our differences and how we’re able to come together to support each other in allyship and direct action.

We hope through June that everyone had an amazing Pride month, though there are extra challenges we face in this community, we hold strong to our values of solidarity and continue to recognize, support and celebrate each other.

CUPE 1004 Members from City of Vancouver Engineering Services, Science World, and the Parks Board, along with the incoming President and Vice President spent Friday and Saturday volunteering their time at the Vancouver Landfill Open House. It was a great event to showcase the work our members do at the Vancouver Landfill in Delta.

Lifeguard funding is in front of Vancouver City Council on April 22.

A motion to restore services at key beaches will be considered, and public support matters.

More than 2,600 people have already signed the petition.

The more people who add their name, the clearer it is to Council how important safe beaches are.
