We are thrilled to share that the Federal government has committed to a five-year renewal of the Federal Community Housing Initiative, providing $362.7 million in rental assistance for co-ops across the country.

In BC, 181 co-ops and over 2,000 households currently benefit from this support. Our national partner, CHF Canada has been actively campaigning for this renewal through the "You Hold the Key" campaign, and we will continue to support their efforts to secure a long-term commitment for this and similar programs that help keep co-op housing affordable.

The Canada Greener Affordable Homes Program helps affordable housing options like non-profit co-ops access funding for vital renovations that help keep these homes viable for longer.

Today we're celebrating 43 years of CHF BC!
In 1982, 40 housing co-ops came together with a shared vision: to create a unified voice for housing co-ops across British Columbia. That vision became the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC.
Forty-three years later, our purpose remains the same—to expand and strengthen non-profit co-operative housing, share knowledge, advocate for better housing, and support thriving co-op communities throughout BC.
To our members, volunteers, partners, staff, facilitators, and everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. Your commitment to co-operation has helped shape stronger communities for more than four decades.
Here's to celebrating 43 years of co-operation and to building an even stronger future together. 💙

After more than 28 years of dedicated service to the housing sector, we're celebrating the retirement of Ted.

Over nearly three decades, Ted has made a lasting impact across our organizations, contributing his knowledge, leadership, and unwavering commitment to strengthening the non-profit housing sector. His work has touched countless colleagues, partners, and communities, leaving a legacy that will be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Ted, for your years of service, your generosity, and everything you've done to support our mission. We wish you a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement—you've certainly earned it!
