rice & beans theatre

rice & beans theatre rice & beans theatre was founded by co-artistic directors Pedro Chamale and Derek Chan in 2010.

rice & beans dedicates itself to defining the nature and function of a contemporary theatre that challenges the role of story and narrative. rice & beans focuses on the creation, incubation and production of original performances. Through countless hours of vigorous trial-and-error, with intimate passion and delicate violence, we write, adapt, and devise work that is relevant and artistically responsible. We believe that a worthy theatre should be accessible, honest, uncompromising and personal.

✨Thank you, West Vancouver and Kay Meek Arts Centre, for such an unforgettable stop on the Jade Circle Tour!💚
We spent the week soaking in those ocean views, mountain vibes, and all the amazing energy this community has to offer. Between the performances, the people, and the stunning surroundings, it was the kind of place that makes you want to stay just a little longer.
Feeling grateful, inspired, and already missing it—until next time, West Van!
