Loved seeing everyone at last nights event 🍷💃🏻

Big thank you to for the most inspiring talk on all things entrepreneurship.
Sami walked us through her journey from painting dog portraits to save for uni to her dream of owning her own agency many years later!

A few key takeaways which really resonated:
- Don’t make your business your whole identity
- Start with a side hustle
- You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment
- You have to spend money to make more money
- If the client doesn’t exist yet, create them yourself

Can’t wait to see you at the next one ☺️

We’re so excited to welcome Alanna to our next Ladies Wine and Design event! Alanna is an independent type designer, lettering artist, and self-proclaimed letter nerd. Alanna designs & refines wordmarks, creates custom & retail fonts, and draws lettering for products and editorial use. Her passion for providing accessible well-made fonts and sharing typographic knowledge with everyone can be seen in her involvement as a co-organizer of Type Brigade, Vancouver’s typography speaker series, and as a educator at BCIT.

Are you using fonts to their fullest capabilities? Modern fonts can do so much more than display static letters on a page. Fonts are more vibrant and functional than they have ever been before. Join us for an exploration of how colourful, animated, and versatile fonts have become and how to use fonts more uniquely in your creative projects.

We had the most magical session with for our last LW&D event for 2024 ✨

Justine led us through a breath work session at the start of the event which was super relaxing. After answering a few journal style questions about the year we took pen to paper and focussed on creating patterns and typography that represented that. With the majority of us being designers, we rarely get off the computer to get creative so this was such a welcomed way to spend the evening!

As always, thank you for your support this year.. we really couldn’t do it without you all 💕 merry Christmas to you all! 🎄🎅🏽

Why is this so hard? ✨At our last event, shared her deep insights on the challenges and beauty of the creative process.

Here are a few key takeaways:

You’re not your work
The process is the work
Be better, or be bitter
Give them what they want, show them what they need
Don’t fear the unknown, get to know it
What’s in the way is the way
Rest is the ultimate creative act

After earning her BFA from Emily Carr University in 2006, went on to study design and illustration in the IDEA program at Capilano University. She’s been a big supporter of Vancouver’s creative community for years, she was the co-publisher and Creative Director at SAD Mag, an indie mag spotlighting up-and-coming artists, for many years. Now, she’s moved on and is fully focused on her role as Creative Director at Rethink (no more moonlighting!) Come meet Pamela and learn about the consequences of burning the candle at both ends...but it’ll be fun, we swear.
