The Beedie Living Cypress Challenge, presented by Glotman•Simpson Cycling, is almost here!

🚲 Before Sunday's ride, please review the Event Guidelines and Rules below.

Bike Maintenance: Make sure your bike is in good operating condition, including tires, brakes, and gearing.

Personal Equipment: Wearing a certified Helmet with chinstrap buckled at all times is required. You're also encourage to carry a patch kit, tire levers, a spare tube and a pump. NO Headphones.

Traffic Awareness: Know and obey all traffic signals, signs, markings, laws and regulations.

Ride Predictably: Always ride in control and in a straight line. Ride in single file, always sticking to the right of the lane or paved shoulder. Avoid excessive weaving. In most vehicle-bicycle accidents, motorists report not seeing the cyclist in time.

Passing Safely: Always use hand signals to indicate when overtaking another rider. Overtake on the rider’s left only and DO NOT cross over lanes to overtake.

Stopping Protocol: Move completely off the road to rest or make repairs.

Safety Protocol: Riders are advised to call 911 for serious incidents

ā›°ļø Ascending Seymour Mountain
Pace yourself, hydrate regularly and listen to your body.

Use the right-hand lane at all times and stay as far to the right as safely feasible to allow for passing riders and vehicle traffic.

Be courteous and aware of your surroundings at all times.

🚵 Descending Seymour Mountain
Please note that the ride is unsupported on the descent down the mountain with no closures in place.

Use extreme caution on the descent or arrange a ride down if you do not feel comfortable descending.

Mt Seymour Road is steep, winding and open to public vehicle traffic.

Control your speed and maintain a safe distance from others.

Be especially mindful of sharp turns, changing road conditions, wildlife and other vehicles.

Use both brakes evenly and feather them on long stretches to avoid overheating.

Always descend in control and with heightened awareness.

Remember, The Beedie Living Cypress Challenge is a community fundraising ride, not a race — be safe and enjoy the experience!

šŸŒ«ļø Air Quality Guidelines
We will monitor the Air Quality Health Index to determine how the air quality may impact the event. Final decisions relating to the event could be made as late as Sunday morning as the air quality changes daily, sometimes hourly. Please refer to our Air Quality Guidelines.

**Potential Weather (Rain) Safety Messaging šŸŒ§ļø
Pack layers and rain gear. Weather can change quickly, especially at higher elevations.

Expect colder, wetter conditions. Be prepared for rain, wind, and lower temperatures.

Ride with extreme caution on any descent. Wet roads and cold temperatures can make riding more hazardous. Slow down and ride to the conditions.

Have a backup plan. Consider arranging a pickup at the summit in case weather conditions worsen.

Please note, start times are earlier this year: rider check-in begins at 7 a.m. and the event begins at 8:30 a.m.
