Yesterday, history was made 🇺🇦🇨🇦

Vancouver City Council passed the motion — and our community will finally have a Holodomor Memorial in our city.

After more than a decade of effort, persistence, and advocacy, this moment has come. What once felt uncertain is now becoming reality.

This memorial is more than a monument.
It is the rightful recognition of millions of lives lost.
It is Ukrainian history taking its place in Vancouver’s public space.
It is a statement that this truth will not be erased.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mayor and Vancouver City Council for this decision.

Deep gratitude to the Holodomor Committee of Vancouver — and to all those who worked for years to make this possible, who advocated, organized, and never gave up on this vision.

Thank you to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, UCC Vancouver Branch , , and everyone who contributed to bringing this project forward.

We are also grateful to the Estonian and Hong Kong communities for standing with us in solidarity.

And to everyone who showed up — your presence mattered.

This is not the end.
This is the beginning.

There is still much work ahead as UCC Vancouver Branch continues to move this project forward — but today, we took a historic step.

Happy Ukrainian National Anthem Day 🇺🇦

Our heartfelt thanks to for recording a special guitar performance of the Ukrainian national anthem for this day. It reminds us that people around the world continue to unite around Ukraine and are inspired by the courage and bravery of its people by featuring our anthem.

First performed in the 19th century, Ukraine’s anthem became a powerful symbol of resilience, dignity, and the unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people.

As long as this anthem is sung, Ukraine remains sovereign, independent, and free.

Thank you as well to the Estonian community for standing with Ukraine.

Yesterday, Vancouver came together to mark four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and to stand in solidarity with Ukrainians in their fight for freedom.

We remembered the soldiers who gave their lives, the civilians killed in their homes, and the families who continue to live with loss and uncertainty.

We are deeply grateful to Canada and to the diverse communities of Vancouver who stood with Ukraine. Your solidarity is seen and valued.

We were honoured to hear from elected officials who publicly expressed their support for Ukraine.

As Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group, we also advocated for continued support for Ukrainian children who have lost their parents in the war and for veterans who need long-term care and assistance.

Ukraine stands. But words of support must be matched with real action. The free world must move beyond slogans to decisive steps — sustained military aid, stronger sanctions, and accountability for war crimes.

We stand with Ukraine — until justice and victory are achieved

Four years of full-scale war.
More than ten years of Russian aggression.

Ukraine is still fighting — and so is the truth.

Advocacy matters. Visibility matters.
The information front is a real front.

Canada stands with Ukraine.
And Vancouver’s community continues to show up — with voices, flags, and presence that truly matter.
Every rally, every sign of solidarity is seen, felt, and heard.

When we show up, media sees it.
When media sees it, politicians cannot ignore it.
That’s why rallies matter. That’s why unity matters.

Keeping Ukraine visible keeps pressure alive.
Pressure brings accountability.
And accountability is the only path to justice.

Russia must face justice —
and that is only possible if the world does not look away from its crimes.

Stand with us.
Bring your friends. Bring your voices.

Together, Vancouver shows that Ukraine is not forgotten.
Together, Canada shows that Ukraine is not alone.
