Next up at Pivot: our new workshop for kids - The Magic Chair with Samantha Alexandra!

This playful and imaginative improv workshop invites children 8 to 12 to explore creativity, collaboration, and storytelling through one simple object — a chair. Using improvisation, movement and purposeful play, participants will discover how a single item can transform into anything they imagine, from a bus stop to a pirate ship, and how collective imagination can build entire worlds. This course encourages creative thinking and flexibility, helps to develop teamwork and communication skills, and to build confidence through self-expression and performance, while introducing children to the basics of improvisation and storytelling.

Early bird enrolment ($35) is available until May 9th. Book your child’s spot at https://app.ticketowl.io/o/Yf8lcGBNA2YR9dhe/event/aegnH2De1hpWI3eI/. Don’t miss it!

One more sleep until our DND fundraiser! Time to meet your final DM!
Taryn has been playing D&D and other TTRPGs since she was about 8 years old. With a love of drama and improv instilled in her by her grandmother, she focuses on collaborative story telling and character development in her games. She will always favour an interesting choice over an efficient one, and will encourage her players to be creative in their problem solving.
Roleplaying games aren’t her only love; she has participated in playtesting tabletop games and video games, and loves a board game night with friends. She believes play is a crucial part of human interaction and exploration and is not just reserved for kids! Whatever a player’s experience level, Taryn aims to help them find joy while exploring a world of make-believe. See you all tomorrow! Didn’t grab your ticket yet? Joining us for DND this weekend? Meet your DMs! Next up, Matt !

Matt has been playing Dungeon’s and Dragons for 10 years among friends, with most of that time spent in the DM chair. Along with an 8 year long campaign that he ran to completion, he also ran a drop in campaign that consisted of a collection of one shot adventures set in a high seas setting, where players could come and go.
Matt enjoys narrative decisions, role-play amongst the player characters and the “rule of cool”, where if it seems like a fun idea, the rules and mechanics of D&D can be bent around making it work. He also has no problem giving out rare and powerful magic items in an adventure. In his opinion, The more punch the players can deliver, the bigger and scarier the monsters get to be!

For those of you joining us this weekend for Dungeons and Dragons - Meet your DMs! First up: Darsey

Darsey has been involved with her local theatre company since 2003, and has been playing D&D since 2011. Getting to combine both loves is an absolute treat! In 2019, Darsey ran a 2-day D&D fundraiser to support Random Acts, an international charity dedicated to spreading kindness. She is also a board game developer, and published her first collaborative card game, Zombie: Fight or Flight, with her colleagues at PignPotato Games in 2017. Darsey loves playing make-believe, and encouraging players to use their imaginations to solve problems together.
