Trinational member the Centrale de Syndicats du Quebec is a co-sponsor of this Mayday mobilization in Montreal on May 2.
"We call on the entire population to resist! Workers, student groups, retirees, unemployed people, community groups, and rights organizations of all ages—let us stand united on May 2, 2026, in Montreal for International Workers’ Day under the theme Rights Trampled, We Must Resist!
“Rights Trampled” refers to the full range of rights that people in Quebec should be able to claim: economic, social, cultural, and association rights. It also includes the right to a decent income, access to adequate housing, quality education, and an effective healthcare system, among others.
The use of the word “trampled” clearly points to the disregard shown by the Government Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) toward these rights and toward the rule of law. It also evokes the act of marching, directly connected to the march organized on May 2. The visual design will reflect this theme of walking/steps.
“We Must Resist” is a call to action—to mobilize workers, but also the broader population. It is an invitation to take part in the May 2 gathering, as well as in the regional activities leading up to it.

BCTF solidarity with the Alberta teachers

The BCTF stands with our colleagues in Alberta in solidarity and resolve. Premier Danielle Smith’s invocation of the notwithstanding clause is an attack on all workers and the Charter rights of all Canadians. Here in BC, we know how heavy-handed legislation against teachers and collective bargaining rights ultimately hurts schools, students, and everyone who works in public education. The Alberta government should get back to the table and negotiate, not legislate! ✊

The Alberta government has voted to override the Canadian Charter of Rights to impose a non-negotiated contract on Albertan Teachers.

The UCP’s license plates may say “Strong & Free” but their actions today say they’re cowardly authoritarians.

Better is possible and it’s never been needed more.
