BC Poverty Reduction Coalition

BC Poverty Reduction Coalition Join the call for a strong, comprehensive poverty reduction plan at bcpovertyreduction.ca - Poverty is not inevitable.

There is a growing call across our province for British Columbia to commit to a poverty reduction strategy with legislated targets and timelines to dramatically reduce and ultimately end poverty and homelessness. We all pay for poverty in higher costs in health, crime and social services. In fact, paying for the negative effects of poverty costs much more than dealing with it directly. BC is one o

f the last provinces without a poverty reduction plan. Other places in Canada are saving money and lives by tackling the issue of poverty head-on. Join the Call today:

BC's housing market could be stable, fair, and reliable, but housing policy in BC prioritizes landlords' profit over tenants' rights. 💸🏡

Rent prices should be predictable and reliable! By ensuring that rent cannot rise w***y nilly between tenancies, vacancy control would protect renter's right to housing.

People from across BC agree: we need vacancy control now.

Reconciliation requires partnership and trust, not unilateral decisions.

We stand alongside First Nations across the province and our partners in academia, environmental advocacy, unions, faith groups, and legal advocacy in opposition to the BC government's attempt to weaken provincial commitments to Indigenous rights and title.

2025 has been a year of wearing many hats.

Public speaker. Editor. Letter writer (and occasionally hand-deliverer). Social media manager. Picket-line-walker. Designer. Facilitator. Tabler. Convener. Presenter to committees, Councils, and MLAs. The one behind the scenes and the one in front of the camera. An advocate and an attendee. A spokesperson. A twice-in-two-months voter.

As I reflect on all that I've worked on this year, I am proud (and a little sleepy) to witness the momentum of our tiny team's efforts (did you know we have just three staff?).

We're going to keep working towards a province without poverty. We'd love your support to get there.

If you value the work we've done this year, and want to see it continue, please chip in 🔗⤴️.
