East End Boys Club The East End Boys Club works primarily with marginalized youth between the ages of 13 - 19.

Our goal is to provide life-skills training, socio-emotional support, and post-secondary guidance to pursue higher education in both academic and trade skills.

With nearly 30 years in law, Avtar brought a valuable perspective to the session. Hearing directly from someone with his experience gives the boys an opportunity to learn, reflect and think about their own futures. 🌟

🎤 A great afternoon of learning at the East End Boys Club!

Today we welcomed Rob Nijjar, former MLA for Vancouver-Kingsway (2001–2005), as our guest speaker. Rob shared stories about growing up in East Vancouver, his experience serving as an MLA, and why he now wants to serve as a Vancouver school trustee. 🏫

He explained the responsibilities of school trustees and how their decisions affect students, classrooms, and education in our community. The boys were engaged and asked plenty of thoughtful questions! 🙋‍♂️💬

💪 Integrity—putting your values into action, even when the choice is difficult.

Today at East End Boys Club, the guys broke into small groups to define integrity in their own words and work through real-life scenarios involving friendships, work, and keeping promises. 💬

The challenge wasn’t just deciding what was right. It was asking: What makes that choice difficult and what would you actually say or do?

Being honest, standing up for someone, owning a mistake, or following through on a commitment takes courage. These small-group conversations gave everyone a chance to share their perspective and learn from one another. 🙌

Building character through connection, conversation, and everyday choices. That’s what we’re working toward at East End Boys Club. 💙

Every year at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast, we’re fortunate to spend some time with Jim. He always goes out of his way to connect with our East End Boys Club youth, listen to them, and genuinely encourage them. 🙏❤️

A true Vancouver icon and a genuine friend to our young people. We’re grateful for the relationship we’ve built with Jim over the years and for the kindness and encouragement he continues to show our youth.

🍓🏒 OPPORTUNITY. RELATIONSHIPS. COMMUNITY. ❤️🙏

Today was another special day for the East End Boys Club as four of our youth jumped at the opportunity to interview for part-time positions at Rogers Arena. 💼🍓🏒

For many years, we have been incredibly fortunate to have a strong relationship with Francesco Aquilini and the Aquilini family. Whenever opportunities become available at Rogers Arena, Francesco has continually thought about our youth and helped make sure they have an opportunity to get their foot in the door. 🙏❤️

That kind of loyalty and support means a great deal to us.

Our boys don’t want handouts — they want opportunities. An opportunity to work. An opportunity to learn. An opportunity to build confidence, responsibility and independence. 💪🏽💼

Today, four young men stepped forward, dressed for the occasion, resumes in hand, ready to make a positive first impression. 👔📄👏

Whether they get the job or not, just walking through those doors and sitting down for an interview is another important life experience.

A huge THANK YOU to Francesco Aquilini and the entire Rogers Arena and Canucks Sports & Entertainment family for continuing to believe in our youth and for opening doors year after year. 🏒💙💚

These are the relationships that make a difference in a young person’s life.

Give a young person an opportunity, and you never know where it might lead. 🌟

⚓️ An unforgettable day on Vancouver’s waterfront! 🚢

Today, our East End Boys Club Summer Camp youth were picked up from Templeton Secondary School and taken to the ILWU Local 500 Union Hall for a welcome and briefing.

From there, they enjoyed an incredible behind-the-scenes experience:

📋 Visiting the Dispatch Hall to learn how dispatch works
🏗️ Touring Centerm Container Terminal to see container operations
🛳️ Visiting Canada Place to observe cruise ship operations
🍔 Returning to the Union Hall for a delicious BBQ

A heartfelt thank-you to ILWU Local 500 President Rickey Baryer and the entire Local 500 team for welcoming our youth and introducing them to the people, skills and career opportunities that keep Vancouver’s waterfront moving. 🙏
