September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour Residential School Survivors, their families and communities, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the ongoing impacts and intergenerational effects of the residential school system. It is also an opportunity to learn more about Canada's history of colonialism and the ways its impacts continue to shape the lives and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples today.
As part of our work to recognize and honour this year's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, on September 24 MOSAIC's Centre for Diversity hosted an Indigenous Business Fair. The fair brought together 11 Indigenous vendors and more than 150 community members for an afternoon focused on connection, collaboration, and community engagement.
Creating opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs to share their work and connect with our broader community is one practical way we can contribute to relationship-building, support Indigenous self-determination, and advance economic reconciliation.
As we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we encourage everyone to continue learning, listening, and supporting Indigenous businesses and communities throughout the year. 🧡
