In recognition of this year's BC Seniors' Week, we are highlighting our seniors' achievements, wisdom, and life experiences.

Older adults have gained valuable knowledge throughout the years, and it would be a shame not to value their guidance, unique perspectives, and life lessons. Let's not only treat seniors with the respect and dignity they deserve - let's also create opportunities for them to share what they have learned and the priorities that bring us closer to happiness.

This week, we encourage everyone to connect with the older adults in their lives. Listen to their stories, learn from their experiences, and let them know how much they mean to you.

Every day, nurses save and improve lives 💙

Today is International Nurses Day and we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to all the dedicated nurses who have made a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

At the German-Canadian Care Home, our nurses do so much more than administer medications and monitor vital signs. They bring comfort and reassurance by being present - taking the time to talk, listen, and truly connect with our residents.

Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the difference you make each day.

The German-Canadian Care Home has recently completed its move to two temporary locations. As the old building at 2010 Harrison Drive prepares for demolition, residents, staff, volunteers, and family members are settling into their new homes.

Over the past few weeks, we successfully relocated 22 residents to Central City Lodge (415 West Pender Street) and 81 residents to Dogwood Lodge (500 West 57th Avenue).

Thank you to everyone who supported this transition—whether by assisting residents directly or helping move their possessions and other essential items. We deeply appreciate the dedication and commitment of everyone involved in ensuring a safe journey, and in making sure no cherished belongings were left behind.

Our residents’ comfort remains our top priority, regardless of location. At the same time, this move marks an important milestone for the Society, as it paves the way for a new state-of-the-art building.

Dear Family and Friends of GCCH,
After 30 years of dedicated service, our CEO Jutta Purchase will be retiring at the end of this month. We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Jutta for her exceptional leadership and many contributions to GCCH, and we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

We are grateful to announce that Michael Neumann has been appointed as the new CEO of the German-Canadian Benevolent Society of BC. Michael brings extensive experience in long-term care, senior living operations, and project development, and is honored to lead the organization through this upcoming transition and the redevelopment of the care home building.

We look forward to this next chapter and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Board of Directors
German-Canadian Benevolent Society of BC
