During the Month of Giving, your donations will be matched by the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation!

This year, our incredible volunteers have already spent 4270 hours removing invasive species, planting trees, and caring for the Pacific Spirit Park. That's thousands of hours of hard work, mud, and dedication!

But we can't continue to do this all on sweat equity alone. We need tools, plants, and safety gear to keep this momentum going in 2026.

Please donate today to ensure we can continue to protect the park we all cherish so much.

Dear Friends of the Pacific Spirit Park Society,

It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that Laura Cottle, who has been our Volunteer and Program Coordinator for the past four years, will be moving on from her current role at PSPS and will be taking on a new position as Forestry Specialist for B.C. with Tree Canada in the coming fall.

Laura has been an integral part of the society. She has been amazing to work with and her passion shines through the work she has done for PSPS. She helped pioneer innovative new programs such as First Sunday EcoWALKs and EcoTable to name a few. Her greatest accomplishment, however, is the community of volunteers she has helped nurture and develop. She always made sure to make everyone feel included and important, and she has been an inspiration to many with her wealth of knowledge and her wide-reaching connections with the nature community in BC. She truly has been a force of nature, for nature.

Best wishes to you Laura! We will miss you but are also so excited for your next role. We are so glad you will continue to be a part of PSPS as a volunteer for the Eagle Nest Monitoring (and perhaps something else?)!

We are currently hiring for a new Volunteer & Program Coordinator. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please point them in our direction! Find out more at https://bit.ly/46gzMQI

Pacific Spirit Park Society is a community-driven, volunteers-run organisation that works hard to connect park visitors to nature. We run monthly EcoWALKs (the very popular “First Sunday EcoWALKs”) and we also organise child-based hands-on learning opportunities such as Forest Explorations in the summer and Camosun Bog Learning Stations in the spring.

Many studies have shown that spending time in nature has numerous health and psychological benefits for children such as reduced obesity, improved mental well being, increased resilience and even faster cognitive development. By fostering an appreciation and respect for nature, our child-based EcoEducation activities can encourage the development of environmentally conscious behaviour. That makes cool kids!

By donating to PSPS during the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation’s Month of Giving, donation matching means every dollar goes twice as far towards expanding our EcoEducation programs for both kids AND their parents!

The Pacific Spirit Park Society is a community-driven, volunteers-run organization that aims to protect the natural integrity of the Pacific Spirit Park. Thanks to donations, we are able to promote the use of the park, while encouraging its preservation and protection.

There is no better time to donate than in December, during Metro Vancouver Regional Park Foundation’s Month of Giving. Between now and December 31st, MVRPF will match every dollar donated to PSPS.

Donation matching means every dollar goes twice as far!

And while you're at it, don't forget to support our friends with the CTS Youth Society who we collaborated with at the event where this photo is taken.
