As a Vancouver-based non-profit dedicated to supporting young artists and promoting equality in the arts, we are inspired by the recent celebration of Judy Chicagoโs exhibition โRevelationsโ at the Serpentine North gallery in London. The event brought together the art world to explore the powerful question, โWhat if Women Ruled the World?โโa theme central to our own mission of fostering a more inclusive and equitable art community.
The panel discussion, chaired by The Art Newspaperโs managing editor Louis Jebb, featured key voices in art and technology, including Chris Bayley, Aleksandra Artamonovskaja, and Kay Watson. Together, they delved into Chicagoโs interactive project, โWhat if Women Ruled the Worldโ Participatory Quilt, which encourages participants to reflect on gender equalityโan issue we are deeply committed to addressing in our work with emerging artists.
The event also underscored the importance of integrating technology with art to drive social change, a concept that resonates with our efforts to empower young artists through innovative approaches.
Projects like Chicagoโs quilt, developed in collaboration with DMINTI and powered by the Tezos blockchain, exemplify how art can create dialogue and connect communities across the globe.
As we continue our work in Vancouver, we are inspired by the Serpentineโs commitment to pushing the boundaries of art and technology. This event is a reminder of the vital role that art plays in challenging societal norms and envisioning a more just and creative futureโone that we strive to build through our programs and initiatives.
The evening was not only a celebration of Judy Chicagoโs visionary work but also a call to action for all of us in the arts to continue advocating for equality and innovation. We look forward to seeing how these conversations influence and inspire young artists, both in our community and worldwide.
