PARTICIPATING ARTISTS
Cat Hart
is an artist living on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skxwú7mesh (Squamish) & səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), also known as Vancouver, British Columbia. Cat specializes in inks, watercolours, printmaking, and pyrography (woodburning). Their practice is rooted in resisting oppressive narratives and imagining a world where we can all be free. Most of Cat’s work is available print from their Etsy store. Visit their website at www.cathartart.com and follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr. Tangiene Martin-O’Hara
grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and obsessively drew and painted folksy imaginary people and animals. She attended the University of Lethbridge for foundation year then moved to Vancouver and graduated from Emily Carr College with a BFA. Discovering in school that it was too difficult to focus on painting anything she wanted from her imagination she began only painting from photographs. Post graduation work includes abstract and portrait drawing, social media manipulation, curating, photo documentation and soft crafts. Tangiene uses ink and coloured pencil to draw portraits from photographs typically posted on social media. She interprets and mimics the energy of her generation and friends in the creative and LGBTQ2IA+ community. She wants to memorialize everyday occasions and the diversity of people, celebrating inclusivity and documenting the moment. Her next ambition is to make larger scale paintings of wild and unusual animals in sublime landscapes reflective of the Romantic era in painting. She currently resides in Newfoundland with her handsome husband and cute puppy. Visit her website at www.thmartinohara.com and her professional Instagram at
Land acknowledgement
Based on our current and incomplete understanding, Bani Adam respectfully acknowledges that we do much of our work on unceded Coast Salish homelands, including the lands of the Kwikwetlem, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Stó:lō, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We also understand that some of our work takes place on Treaty 8 territory, including the homelands of the Dunne-Za peoples, and specifically the Blueberry River, Doig River, and Halfway River Nations. As settlers who are supporting a refugee couple to relocate to lands that do not belong to us, we recognize our responsibilities to honour Indigenous peoples and lands, challenge colonial injustice, and uphold Indigenous rights. This acknowledgement and the dedication of 50% of the proceeds of this art auction represents only a tiny step in that work.
