A great day at CIM, reconnecting with colleagues and having important conversations about psychological safety in mining.

Susan Lomas’ session, From Silence to Safety, brought forward the realities of fly-in/fly-out life, camp culture and the pressures that shape whether people speak up or stay silent.

Grateful for the energy in the room and the commitment to doing better together.

As we mark Mental Health Week and Safety and Health Week, in Canada and North America, we’re reminded that psychological safety is safety.

We’re presenting at CIM Connect on May 5. Our session looks at the real pressures workers face in fly‑in/fly‑out camps and remote sites, and how those pressures affect whether people feel safe speaking up.

We’ll share practical tools and stories from the field to help teams support each other and prevent harmful behaviour.

April 28 marks Canada’s National Day of Mourning. A day to honour workers who have lost their lives, been injured or suffered illness due to workplace hazards.

At Mine Shift, we extend this reflection to the often‑unseen harms of harassment and assault in the mining industry. Psychological safety is safety.

Our mission is to equip workers and leaders with the tools to intervene, support each other and prevent abuse.
